But dressers and sideboards can stand for many years and annoy you with their outdated look.

Below are some photos of amazing home projects that will inspire you.

2. Beautiful things for the home with your own hands: carpets

Perhaps the most pleasant thing about creating things for the house with your own hands is when one of the guests asks: where did you acquire such beauty? A stylish rug with a zebra print (or any other motif of your choice) will certainly deserve such a compliment. And more than once.

The fabric can be any. The main thing is that it is not too demanding in care: it is not afraid of moisture and can be easily cleaned. In this case, the master chose vinyl fabric. It is heavy and durable enough to look like a true rug. What's more, the quality of vinyl is very impressive these days and is available in a wide variety of colors and interesting textures.

Everything necessary materials and tools:

  • Thick paper;
  • Vinyl upholstery fabric;
  • Scissors;
  • 2 Krylon pens or regular fabric paint.

Procedure:

  1. Create a stencil out of paper. Draw and cut out the outline of the zebra skin, then the drawing itself on it. Don't worry about your artistic talent - a zebra skin doesn't have to look uniform or symmetrical. As a last resort, the pattern can be copied from a picture on the Internet or even printed to cut.
  2. Attach the stencil to the vinyl fabric and trace the contours of the stripes with Krylon pens (spray paint or brush). After that, the stencil can be removed and continue painting the areas inside the paths.
  3. Let the paint dry and you're done! To be sure that the pattern will stick, you can “seal” the carpet by spraying a clear coat of acrylic spray paint on it.

Krylon handles create a stunning gold leaf effect on the surface of the fabric. In addition, the paint in them dries quickly and adheres very securely. If you cannot buy them in your city, then use ordinary paint for fabrics or walls. As the next hero of our article.

He took a cheap white rug as a basis and decided to give it interesting view do it yourself using a chevron pattern. All he needed was thin duct tape, scissors, a thick paintbrush, and two different shades of latex paint.

Finally, another inspiring example that uses an impromptu stamp instead of a stencil. The master had a rubber bath mat, remnants of wall paint (to achieve a vintage effect, it was slightly diluted with water), a roller and an old IKEA wool carpet. We look at the photo of what he managed to cook from these ingredients.

7. Turn photos into wall decor

It's so much cooler than just hanging your photos in frames! Your personal photos or any images you like from the Internet can turn into beautiful wall art for any room. To make such a decor with your own hands, you can apply any of the following methods.

  1. Find or buy a backing. It can be played by a thick sheet of polystyrene or expanded polystyrene (as in this case), a board and other materials at hand.
  2. Print a photo after editing its dimensions so that they are about 5 cm more sizes substrates. These "extra" centimeters will go to the folds.
  3. Cut the photo and backing into pieces if you want a modular set, not a whole picture. Otherwise, skip this item.
  4. Place the photo on a substrate and wrap the ends. The author of this product used a double-sided duct tape for pinning photos. You can attach with regular glue or other available media. The surface of the photos can also be treated with glue or glitter paste.

  1. Print the image and prepare the canvas to transfer it to.
  2. Stretch the canvas over the frame and apply a thick layer of Medium Gel to it. These gels are widespread and can be purchased at any home furnishing store today.
  3. Blend the photo onto the blurred canvas and press down. Leave so for several hours, but occasionally sprinkle with water from a spray bottle.
  4. Carefully, using your fingertips, begin to erase the back surface of the image from the canvas. Remove all paper in this way.

The result is a handsome, frayed look that will only give it a vintage look. It remains only to apply the last layer of the medium gel to it as a protective coating.

Other interesting ideas making wall panels with your own hands.

Idea 8. Universal knife holder

Knife holder - very useful device for the kitchen, which helps to keep the workspace tidy and keep the knife blades sharp for longer.

Making a knife holder with your own hands is very easy - just pick up a small vase and fill it tightly with bamboo / wooden skewers, colored beans or ... colored spaghetti, as in our master class.

To make a stand for knives, prepare:

  • A container or vase as high as the blade of your largest knife. The shape of the container can be any, but without any bends;
  • Spaghetti, lots and lots of spaghetti;
  • Multiple ziplock packages big size(or just large bags that can be tied tightly in a knot);
  • Alcohol (such as vodka)
  • Liquid food coloring in the desired color (or multiple colors if you want to make a multi-color filling);
  • Trays;
  • Aluminum foil or old oilcloth tablecloth;
  • Paper towels;
  • Kitchen scissors.

Instructions:

  1. Make sure your container is clean and dry, then fill it tightly with spaghetti. When the container is full, take out the spaghetti and add a couple more bundles of pasta to this heap in reserve (in case of replenishing the broken sticks).
  2. Divide the spaghetti evenly into the bags and add enough alcohol to wet all the sticks. Then add 10-40 drops of food coloring to each bag.

  1. Seal or tie your bags, then put them in additional bags to avoid leaks. Shake and turn the bags slowly to mix the dye with the rubbing alcohol and pasta. Next, put the bag on one side and leave for 30 minutes, then turn the bag over again and leave it for another half hour. Continue to soak the spaghetti in this way (but not more than 3 hours) until they are the desired shade.
  2. Cover your baking sheet with aluminum foil, then a layer of paper towels (or oilcloth). To protect your hands from staining, it is advisable to wear gloves. Remove the spaghetti from the bags, after draining all the liquid, place them on a baking sheet in one layer and leave to dry. From time to time, spaghetti needs to be sorted out to dry evenly.

  1. Once your spaghetti is COMPLETELY dry, start placing it in the container.
  2. Shake the filled container and flatten the spaghetti. Insert your knives to determine the optimal filling density, add pasta or remove excess as needed.
  3. Now, using kitchen scissors or other very sharp scissors, cut the spaghetti to the desired length without removing it from the container (it is best to do this over the sink). It is important that the spaghetti does not exceed the height of the container by more than 2-3 cm, otherwise they will quickly break.

Idea 9. Jars for storing spices and bulk products

Today we will tell you about the express technique for making paper baskets, which can be used to store small things (keys, stationery), yarn, as well as for an unusual serving of fruits, easter eggs, bread or pastries to festive table or as a gift.

Even a child can weave such baskets quickly and easily.

You will need:

  • About 15 sheets of A3 thin paper, cut in half along the sheets (this can be printer paper, a sheet of newspaper in full spread, and even baking paper);
  • A container of a suitable size with straight walls (for example, a jam jar);
  • Glue stick;
  • One skewer;
  • Spray paint (optional).

Instructions:

  1. Starting at one corner, start rolling the sheet of paper tightly around the skewer to the diagonally opposite corner to form a straight and long tube. When the straw is ready, add a few dabs of glue to the corner of the paper to hold it in place and pull the skewer out. Do the same with all the remaining sheets. In this master class, weaving 2 baskets took 30 tubes.
  2. If necessary (for example, if you used newspaper sheets) or if desired, paint the tubes with acrylic paint.
  3. Take an even number of tubes and connect them together as shown in the photo in the upper left corner. In this master class, a basket the size of a jam jar took 6 tubes, for a larger basket, 8 tubes.

  1. Start braiding: take one of the outer tubes (which is under the grate) and run it over the adjacent tube, then run it under the next tube, then run the tube again over the next tube, etc. Continue weaving by lifting the already entwined tubes vertically (now these tubes will be called uprights).
  2. When 2-3 cm remain from the first working tube, increase its length. To do this, apply glue to a new tube and insert it into the remaining “tail”. Continue weaving over and over, adding paper tubes as needed.
  3. As soon as you braid the base of the desired diameter (the same size as the container), place the container on it and start weaving around it, pulling the stand pipes close to the walls.
  4. After finishing the basket to the end, take out the can and carefully wrap the end of the working tube into the braid.
  5. Fold the ends of the uprights into the braid and cut if necessary. Then you can spray paint from a spray can as in our master class.

Idea 11. Wall-mounted holder for towels and kitchen utensils

  • Glue.

Instructions:

  1. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to cover the grater with a patina for metal, for example, in green, as in this workshop.

  1. Install a wooden bottom on the inside. It must first be cut to the size of the upper part of the grater. As a rule, at the top of the grater there are protrusions from the metal handles, it is on them that the bottom will be attached.
  2. Screw the grater onto the board with self-tapping screws, after making holes in it with a nail and a hammer.
  3. Install the board on the wall near the sink, hang a towel on the handle, fold your spades, scoops or flowers inside.

Idea 12. Flower vase

Glass bottles for wine, milk or other drinks are almost ready-made vases that are just waiting for painting with acrylic paints and / or trimming.

The house is beautiful, clean, freshly renovated, there are all the necessary household appliances and furniture, but still something is missing. Coziness! So, it's time to get some designer gizmos for interior decoration, which are interesting to look at. They can be bought in an online store, kiosk, in the market, but it is easier to do each thing with your own hands - it is fashionable and not expensive. What and how to do for the creative design of your home, what materials and tools are better to use for this, more details about useful crafts in the text below.

Tree-paintings and not only

Plant motifs have always been very popular - it is impossible to do without them in an eco-interior, some types of oriental, Provence, vintage. Paintings on wooden surfaces are done using:

  • acrylic or oil paints, paint brushes;
  • dye from a spray can through a stencil;
  • burning with a magnifying glass, a special apparatus;
  • by pulling colored threads between nails driven into a piece of wood;
  • gluing wooden twigs in the form of a tree on a plank surface, followed by applying paints, varnishes.

There is one more original way: Transfer the photo to a wooden surface. How to do it: you need a picture printed on a laser printer, the smoothest board possible, acrylic gel. Gel is applied to the wood, the photo is placed face down, smoothed. They wait until it dries enough, soak the paper with water, wash it until the drawing itself. Next, the plane should be covered with varnish, decoupage glue - the picture is ready.

Daisies on the board are painted with brushes of different thicknesses and in three colors - white, yellow, brown. Fluffy dandelions are depicted on wood with a burner using thick and thin nozzles. To make a picture of threads and nails, a necessary contour is drawn on a board or plywood, along which small nails are driven in with a hammer, knitting or embroidery threads are pulled between them. The base can be pre-painted in a contrasting color.

DIY designer toys for the interior

Homemade toys will be a wonderful gift for a child or a woman, decorating the interior of the bedroom. For their manufacture, textiles, leather, wood, etc. are used.

  • they are made to decorate a room, not to play;
  • they are unique, original, one-of-a-kind;
  • emphasize the features of the style of the interior;
  • reflect the mood of the room and the author of the items.

On the Internet, you can find many photos and videos with instructions for making toys for the interior.

Interior dolls are:

  • articulated,
  • from jersey,
  • realistic,
  • fancy,
  • miniature,
  • made of plastic,
  • in mixed media.

For work you will need threads, a needle, fabric, fabric paints, large beads, synthetic winterizer, doll clothes, shoes. First, the pattern is drawn on paper, after which all the details are outlined on the fabric - the head and body in two, arms and legs in four. All parts are sewn together, turned inside out, stuffed with padding polyester, interconnected, ears and fingers stand out. Large beads will become the doll's joints, and the face is drawn using acrylic paints. Hair is bought special, doll hair or sewn on thread, they can be styled in a fancy hairstyle. Clothes and footwear are sewn independently or purchased.

Some designers offer dolls made of wool using dry felting technique. In a decorative "empty" doll from the old baby jumpsuit empty plastic bags can be folded.

And here's how to make a rag magpie with decoupage elements and acrylic painting. What you need: fabric, colored napkins for decoupage, a brush, buttons, glue, an iron stand, a needle and thread. To begin with, a pattern is drawn on paper. A magpie will consist of two identical parts - paper pattern circled on fabric folded in half. Then the details (body and wings) are sewn on a typewriter, turned inside out, stuffed. The wings are sewn on or glued to the torso. Next, the bird is primed with PVA glue, dried with a hairdryer, painted with acrylic or decorated with napkins. The eyes are made of beads or buttons, the stand is pasted over with napkins.

For pillows made of a homogeneous fabric, hand embroidery is suitable - cross-stitch, satin stitch, applique. The tapestry design also looks good. You can also simply wrap any pillow with a fabric, tying the ends of the fabric with a decorative knot.

According to the shape of the pillows are: square, rectangular, round, rollers, in the form of various animals, hearts, cookies, bagels, etc. They will become soft accessories for a teenage girl's bedroom. A round shelf made of old sieve, pieces of plywood will complement the ethnic interior.
