Children's gurney with their own hands. DIY wooden wheelchair for children

Going for a walk with a toddler, whose age is close to one year or a little older, in addition to a scoop, a bucket and a ball, it would be nice to take with you such a toy as a gurney for children with a handle. Walking with her on the playground or grass will bring a lot of pleasure to the child. And at the same time it will bring undoubted benefits.

Wheelchairs with a handle for children - what are they for?

Of course, from the point of view of an adult, a doubt may arise, what is so interesting about carrying a toy on a stick. The kids, however, do not agree with this and ride with pleasure. Why do children like these toys so much?

Many parents will confirm that their baby has walked around the entire apartment several times over the course of several months, holding onto the wall, not daring to take the first independent step. From the point of view of child psychology, everything is quite simple - the child is afraid of losing support, which may be the already mentioned wall, hand or finger of an adult. Therefore, the child can put off the first independent step, so much anticipated by the parents, for a long time. Meanwhile, if the baby finds himself among his peers who already know how to walk, he may forget and follow someone after or in order to take the toy he likes.

For children, both support and incentive. These are the advantages of the present invention. But even for a child who has already mastered the skill of independent walking, the toy will not lose its relevance. Indeed, with its help, you can bring your skills to perfection.

Wheelchairs with a handle for children: types and prices

The advantages of the toy are obvious. What are they made of? If we talk about the materials of execution, then it can be wood or plastic. There are many manufacturers, but, of course, most of these toys are made in China. Recently, however, there are many Russian analogues.

With materials, everything is simple. And what kind of gurney with a handle are for children? There are two types of such toys:

  • wheelchairs on a stick;
  • wheelchairs-cars, the so-called, two-in-one.

The first are a fairly simple construction of a handle (stick) and a toy. Their advantage is their compactness, they easily fit into a bag or stroller basket for purchases. Some models are collapsible.

The gurney itself can be made in the form of a container with colorful balls, or a figurine of an animal, or a fairy-tale character. Moving the toy can be accompanied by an additional sound or motion effect. For example, the successful gurney with a handle "Polesie" in the form of a duckling, which "spanks" with its paws.

If we talk about the prices for such toys, then the most budgetary options will cost about two hundred rubles, which is quite inexpensive.

Wheelchairs are the second version of wheelchairs. They combine at least two possibilities:

  • carry her in front of you;
  • ride a horse.

Quite often such cars “know how” to make various sounds (signal, song and the like). Their cost, of course, is higher than their compact counterparts, but such a toy will delight the baby not only in a year, but also in two, and even three. The most inexpensive are mechanical machines, the price of which ranges from seven hundred to one and a half thousand rubles. The presence of a parental handle and electronics increases the cost of the toy. They cannot be called compact, so this option is suitable for home use or when walking for short distances.

This original children's wheelchair swing for a small child can easily turn into a small slide. You can color it yourself, brightly, in rainbow colors, as in this master class, or make it more delicate. The child will be very happy with such a gift. It can be installed both indoors and outdoors, and he can ride it on his own.

Materials (edit)

To make a children's wheelchair swing with your own hands, you will need:

  • plywood sheet, 1.5 cm thick;
  • board (poplar), 2.5 cm thick;
  • food paints;
  • isopropyl alcohol;
  • water-based varnish;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • rasp;
  • jigsaw;
  • sandpaper or sander;
  • drill and drills.

Step 1... The above template must be scaled and printed. In this case, a paper size of 90 x 121 cm was needed. You can make a similar printout at any company specializing in printing.

Step 2... Cut a template out of paper and transfer it to a sheet of prepared plywood. You will need 2 such parts.

Step 3... Cut out the blanks using a jigsaw. To make handle cutouts, first drill a hole using a drill. Otherwise, the plywood may burst.

Step 4... Be sure to sand the cut out parts of the wheelchair so that there are no sharp edges and notches.

Step 5... Cut the poplar board into planks with parameters 30 x 10 cm.In total, 9 pieces will be needed. Carefully sand their surface on all sides and wipe with a rag so that fine dust and wood shavings are not left.

Step 6... Use food-grade paint and isopropyl alcohol as dye. Dilute each color in a separate container to achieve the intensity you want. Cover the boards with this paint and leave them for a day until the surface is completely dry.

Step 7... Make holes for the fasteners along the edges of the boards.

Step 8... Attach the prepared planks with self-tapping screws to the side walls of the swing. Arrange them by color. If the screws are too long, cut them off, line the cut and smooth it flush with the surface. To do this, take a rasp.

The world of children's transport for toddlers begins with a wheelchair. Such a vehicle is available for a child who has just learned to walk, it develops, entertains and helps to get to know the world around him better. True, the assortment is now so wide that many parents are dizzy from the choice - which gurney is better?

Why do you need a wheelchair?

Whatever they call them! Scooters, pushers, cannons and tolokars. However, most often they use a "wheelchair" machine. But, no matter what name is applied to the package, the essence remains the same. This is a transport with wheels, on which the baby sits, pushing off the ground with the legs to set it in motion - in some ways it resembles a balance bike (similar fit, driving principle). Only the latter is designed for older children: from 2-3 years old. A wheelchair machine is suitable for those who are just taking their first steps - that is, already from 9-12 months! Interest in her usually passes just by those same 3 years - the child is transplanted to a balance bike or scooter, or even a tricycle.

Separately, it should be said about the benefits of toys. This is not just fun for the sake of fun, this is an educational transport. So, even a simple model of a wheelchair uses the muscles of the arms and legs, abdomen and back, promotes the development of coordination and the ability to keep balance, and strengthens the vestibular apparatus. And if it is also equipped with additional accessories, various buttons, levers and small toys, this is a plus for improving fine motor skills, as well as developing logical thinking (the child will be able to observe the cause-and-effect relationship between his actions and the result). It is not surprising that often a toy becomes a favorite and indispensable for a little driver!

What characteristics of a wheelchair are important?

To choose the right gurney, pay attention to a number of parameters:

The most important thing: the dimensions of the car should correspond to the growth and age of the baby. If it is too large for him or, on the contrary, small, he is unlikely to play with it - it will be uncomfortable for him. Therefore, we need a fitting. Put the child on the gurney and see if the leg reaches the ground (it is better that it be bent at the same time) and if it rests on the steering wheel during pushing off. Of course, it's not worth taking the model back to back, it is better to take it with a small margin. Do not forget the purely pragmatic moment: the toy should easily pass through the doorways of your house and move over the sills if necessary (that is, you need sufficient ground clearance). Also, keep in mind that large models often weigh a lot. Therefore, think about whether the machine will be heavy for your child both for riding and for carrying?

safety

Although it is difficult to achieve high speed on a typewriter, driving safety is worth considering. First, make sure that it stands confidently on its wheels: rock it, evaluate its stability. Check if the kit has a special stopper at the back. Without it, there is a high risk that the child, having played and sat on the very edge, will tip over backwards. Also, this stopper will come in handy when the child pushes his car, walking from behind. Often there are models with bumpers: they will help in collisions - but not so much for the baby as for the machine itself, protecting it from damage. Although there are bumpers for the child: they surround him at the waist level (these elements will be useful for the smallest children). There are also wheelchairs with seat belts, similar to the belts in a car seat.

The chair should be comfortable, spacious and moderately hard. Find out what material it is made of: it should be non-slip (so that there is less risk of falling), easy to clean (important for those children who still wear diapers), pleasant to the touch, not cold, but also not "sweating" in the heat ... It is also good if the seat has a back, although you can do without it (children, when riding, often lean forward, leaning on the steering wheel). Be sure to note if there is a place under the seat - kids love these secret trunks, where you can put toys to transport them around the apartment! And sometimes you can find wheelchairs with a removable seat on sale. By removing the seat, you can put your child inside the car.

Decide on the material of the wheels. There are two options: plastic and rubber. Plastic wheels are cheaper and lighter, but they can rattle a lot while driving and wear out quickly (which is especially important when driving on asphalt - this is not the best choice for the street). Rubber is quieter, more durable, more comfortable, but more expensive. You also need to measure up to the size: the larger the wheels, the better for driving on uneven terrain. As for the swivel mechanism, it is, of course, needed, but do not be mistaken that the child will actively turn the steering wheel when cornering. Practice shows: most often he just gets up and turns the body of the machine in the right direction with his hands. But a model with removable wheels can be interesting - if instead of them you can put curved runners, thanks to which the gurney turns into a rocking horse!

pusher

For many wheelchair cars, a handrail can be installed behind the seat - it is designed so that, resting on it, you can push the toy in front of you. For young children taking their first steps, this is an important detail: thanks to it, the machine essentially functions as a walker. And many babies aged 10-15 months like to push something in front of them: even a car, even a box or a chair! It is also worth noting that the kit may include another pusher, but higher. It is intended for parents during walks to roll their child. And to make such trips as comfortable for him as possible, removable footrests and a mini-overhead sunshade can be attached to the toy, thanks to which you almost have a stroller.

sound module

Only simple and cheap models are devoid of built-in musical toys, but it is worth overpaying for them - there will be no limit to the delight of the child. The choice in this case is very large! So, almost no machine is complete without a horn: built-in, like in a real car, in the steering wheel hub or outboard (in the form of a bicycle bell or a rubber pear with a squeaker). The ignition also looks interesting: a child turns the key in the lock - and the sound of the engine is heard (sometimes there is also a gear lever, moving which you can change the tonality of the engine “work”). There is no need to talk about ordinary buttons that launch melodies and songs - they are expected against this background. Just do not forget when buying to evaluate how loud the gurney sounds and whether you can make it quieter. Sometimes it is not easy for parents to withstand an hour and a half of the "roar of the engine" ...

developmental details

The buttons on a good wheelchair, as well as on a developing table, may not be counted at all! Some of them turn on headlights or turn signals, some activate rotating gears and wheels - and all this captivates children, makes them reach for them, to understand the connection between the events taking place. In addition to twists, you can find an arrow clock (for teaching numbers), a telephone, and built-in constructors, mosaics, lacing, pyramids. Thanks to this configuration, games with a gurney for a child become both more diverse and more useful (especially at an early stage, when the child has not learned how to ride a typewriter, but simply sits on it, twisting all available handles). True, you need to be aware: equipping with such options can raise the price of a toy sometimes even 2-3 times!

Traditional disclaimer: it all depends only on your taste, there is hardly anything worth advising. First of all, the interests of the child should be taken as a guideline. If he is drawn to real cars, choose just such a gurney. You can also find those that resemble well-known models: some Ferrari or BMW (it is especially advantageous if the family has the same car - the kid will appreciate that he has become like his parents!). In addition to cars, wheelchairs are in the form of locomotives, airplanes, motorcycles (with very wide wheels so that they do not fall on their side), even animals and cartoon characters. The latter will appeal not only to boys, but also to girls, who are also happy to master such children's transport.

quality

Even the most attractive and equipped wheelchair, of course, cannot be bought without making sure of its quality. Be sure to evaluate how it was made: how all the parts are connected, whether there are cracks, scratches, traces of flowing glue, crookedly made stickers, protruding threads, sharp edges and small details. Rub the paint to see if it will rub off. It is also better to refuse the option with flashy, poisonous flowers. Make sure the toy does not have a strong chemical odor. And test it for strength: it should withstand the weight of the child with a margin, not bend or crack from impacts. And, of course, ask the seller for quality certificates. Only they guarantee that toxic materials harmful to the child's body were not used in the production of the wheelchair.

And finally, a funny nuance: sometimes you can find huge cars on sale that ... are not gurneys. Do not confuse: such toys are not able to withstand the weight of a child and will quickly break!

Tell us, and your child has already mastered such transport - and what does he like most about it?

It seems that there is nothing easier than choosing a toy for your kid. But not everything is so simple. After all, this item should be not only beautiful, but also useful to the baby, developing, cognitive and safe. If a child celebrated his first long-awaited birthday for his parents, he is no longer interested in simple rattles. But the toy - the gurney will delight him!

Useful toy - first steps

An important period in a child's life is the first steps. We do not forget this moment for parents, joy and happiness are replaced by every minute anxiety. The crumb can fall, get hurt, especially if it stomps in the fresh air along the paths. The toy wheelchair will serve as a reliable support for the little man, and also with its help you can:

  • develop balance faster and learn to move more confidently
  • fine motor skills are involved - the baby is holding on to a handle or rope
  • the baby will master the concepts of left - right and forward - backward
  • development of imagination, thinking, due to the color and shape of the toy
  • coordination of movements will return to normal faster

This type of toy has only solid pros and cons! Rollers on a string, which follow on the heels of the baby, have a positive effect on psychomotor development. The imagination of children is limitless, pulling a toy on a string behind him, the child will come up with the plots of games, and have fun.

Be careful! While the baby is familiar with the mechanism of the toy and joins the game process, knees and elbows may suffer a little, so stock up on antibacterial agents!

Varieties of children's gurney

Almost from the cradle, children already have their own preferences not only in food, but also in toys. Someone loves all kinds of animals, and someone will thaw out their preference for cars. Therefore, when choosing a gurney toy, it is better to choose what your child will definitely like.

Shop windows are full of various gurneys and pushers. Here you can find cool cars and cute bunnies with butterflies. To decide, you will have to spend a lot of time in the store and consider each variety in more detail. Plastic products are in the lead, they are light in weight, but durable. The range of colors is amazing.

The shape of the toy is also important. Animal-shaped gurneys give the child the opportunity to take care of the pet. The kid will use the toy not only for its intended purpose, but also feed, water and iron it. Any type of transport will help the baby to join the work; as entertainment, you can wash and wipe the body with a soft cloth. In addition, vehicles are usually equipped with music, flashing buttons, a trailer or trunk, a telephone receiver, developmental complexes, which the child will really like.

You can also find a gurney that has several combined functions - a transformer. As the baby grows up, the toy will remain interesting to him.

What are the gurneys?

The abundance of baby products on the market baffles many. Each type of gurney has its own function and theme, choose what is closer to your baby:

  1. Cars - gurneys- the most widespread and favorite type of wheelchair by boys, although not a single girl will refuse a pink shiny vehicle. This is usually a transformer. From an ordinary gurney in the form of a car, with a slight movement of the hand, it turns into a cool scooter!
  2. Wheelchairs - wheelchairs- while the child is very young, the parents themselves roll it in it, the stroller is equipped with bumpers, an umbrella from the sun and precipitation, and a long handle at the back. When the baby is fully fledged, acquires the skills of coordination of movement, the parents will remove everything unnecessary from the stroller, and it will turn into a scooter or even a bicycle
  3. Rocking chairs- the toy is on a special platform, which functions as a swing, and after removing the toy from the platform, you can simply ride on it pushing off the floor with legs, the gurney is equipped with wheels.
  4. Gurney walker- there is a great variety of forms and designs, the child learns to walk in this device, at first, while standing, he leans on the gurney and takes the first steps, and then you can fasten a seat-seat inside, and you will get the first transport. The child is not sitting on top of the gurney, but is inside it.
  5. Gurney jumpers- safe shock absorbers are built into this design, due to which the child can jump on the gurney like on a trampoline.
  6. Wheelchair scooter- this type of wheelchair is intended for children who have reached 1.5 years of age. The child already has good control over his body, he can keep balance. The wheelchair of the scooter has a high handlebar and two or four wide, solid wheels, the scooter is stable and the child is completely safe while riding it.
  7. Mini wheelchair on a stick- the most common and inexpensive type of wheelchair. A toy is attached to a long stick, most often it is a helicopter, a car or a butterfly. These wheelchairs are made of wood and plastic. They are bright, colorful and based on them, children learn to walk faster, come up with exciting games.

Manufacturers combine in one device there are 2 or 3 types of wheelchairs at once, the toy serves for a long time and does not bother the kid! Almost all wheelchairs make funny sounds, melodies, and flicker with colored lights. Even an adult wants to tinker with such a toy, but what about children?

How to choose the right gurney for your baby

When choosing a gurney, you need to take into account the weight, height and age of the baby. It is better to take your baby with you to the store and "try on" the toy!

When choosing a gurney - a scooter, make sure that it is not too low and not quite high. The legs should reach the floor, but not bend too much at the knees. It is desirable that a comfortable back is present

  • The seat should be soft, upholstered with beautiful dense fabric, fur or made of foam.
  • Gurney - a good quality car has wheel restraints, with a sharp turn the baby will not turn over. Wheels must be wide and stable
  • Choose animals that the child understands - bunny, dog, cat, butterfly. Who is a koala or why a cat is green - it is rather difficult to explain to a kid. Toys in the form of ordinary objects that the kid sees every day will be clear to him: a car, a helicopter, a motorcycle.
  • The gurney should not weigh much so that the baby can carry it on his own and take it out into the yard for a walk
  • Color is already the preference of the parents. Red or yellow would be a versatile vehicle

Be careful! Do not leave your baby alone with a toy!

High-quality and popular children's wheelchairs

  1. Kidsrider proved to be responsible producers. Children's wheelchairs are made of dense plastic and can be used for several years. The design is not particularly original. The colors are rich and colorful. Almost every gurney has a compartment for toys that you can take for a walk.
  2. Rollers-tolokars "Polesie" are distinguished by increased safety and functionality. They are equipped with comfortable handles, holding which the kid pushes the machine forward. The handle is removable, without it the machine turns into a gurney, sitting on top of it, the child pushes off with his legs and gets a storm of emotions! Excellent vehicles that will appeal to any small buyer and affordable - to parents.
  3. Firm Injusa produces gurney transformers, there can be more than 6 functions in one toy. The products have a heavy load - up to 35 kg, so that older brothers and sisters will also be able to remember their childhood. Powerful motorcycles, unusual type of cars are very popular with little dandies. The gurneys are equipped with removable handrails, footrests, backrests - everything for safety and more.

Walker Playskool 2 in 1 designed for babies from 10 months to 3, 5 years old. The walker and the machine in one person are equipped with a complex for the development of motor skills, signals, light effects, mills, a drum. There is a convenient glove compartment. Everything you could wish for. Withstands up to 19 kg of weight, the colors are attractive and vibrant.

Tolocar or balance bike - which is better?

A treadmill is already a serious thing compared to a regular gurney. They do not look childish at all, the design is classic. At first glance, it seems that this is a bike for gnomes, but looking closer it is clear that there are no pedals! The development of independence in a baby is a very important process. With a balance bike, the baby is left on his own - no handles for the parents. The kid himself decides where to go and turn! A very useful thing for the physical development of the baby and strengthening the muscles of the legs. Very active and playful children will appreciate the balance bike at its true worth!

Tolocar is safer, the baby is inside the car and holds on to a comfortable steering wheel. The risk of falling or getting hurt is minimal. People are not indifferent to the colorful design. Children rejoice at the tolokar, parents are moved by the happiness of the kids! Complete harmony!

What to choose a balance bike or tolokar depends on the level of development and temperament of your baby.... If the cub walks, runs, jumps confidently, offer him a balance bike, and for the less active younger generation, a tolokar is suitable. The kid will learn to walk without haste and work, confidently pushing the machine in front of him.

Be careful! Children can pick up high speed and slide down the stairs, roll over the threshold.

"in the master class proposed by the author, the technology of creating a wooden toy" Wheelchair "will be presented. Workshop on making wooden toys "Wheelchair"
As mentioned above, the best toy for a child is the one that is less dangerous to his health. So, wood as a material for making toys is the most environmentally friendly and safe, unlike synthetic ones.

Since ancient times in Russia, parents have made toys for their children from wood - these are popular rocking horses and wheelchairs. Easy to manufacture, and the material itself is very affordable and easy to process. Basically, Grandfathers were engaged in their manufacture, because they had a lot of free time, so they made toys, and played with the children. And another indisputable plus of a wooden product is its beauty, kindness, as well as during work the master puts a piece of his soul, therefore, a toy with a soul and gives joy and happiness.

Today, all parents know perfectly well what inflated prices we have for children's products, as they say "Business and nothing personal" but our author does not think so and easily breaks the stereotypes that have been established today. And so, to create a toy for his child, he took an ordinary board (linden) 25 mm, applied a contour to it using a pattern, sawed it out, and then painted it. Everything is extremely simple. The necessary tools and materials were prepared in advance.

Here is such a simple sketch plays the role of a pattern.

It is applied to the board and traced along the contour.

And then it is simply cut out with a jigsaw.

It is very carefully processed with sandpaper.

Holes are drilled for the installation of axles.

The axles themselves are made directly.

Made a sawing.

All parts are pre-primed.

In order for the wheel to sit confidently on the axle, the master makes a hole and inserts the wedges. in the form of toothpicks or matches.

After that, the caring father proceeds to painting the horse, first the drawing is applied to the wheels.

Such is the flower.

Just beauty.

Flowers and patterns are applied.

Here's what happens.

Black stripes are also applied to the horse's mane.

Assembled.
