And only the hood manages to combine convenience, practicality, style, so that a sweater, cardigan or dress is original. Therefore, for some craftswomen, the topic is relevant: how to knit a hood from the neck with knitting needles? Do-it-yourself new clothes for the off-season period will turn out on the basis of knitting patterns - from simple to unusual.

Ways to knit a hood from the neck

Even for beginners, knitting this part will not be a stumbling block, since there are several options for how to knit the hood from the neck on the knitting needles. Simple provides that the functional part of the product must be tied separately, in the shape of a rectangle, and then sewn on one side, and then connected to the neck. Another way is to cast on stitches along the neckline, bring them up to the desired level, close the knitting and sew the edges. There are other options: classic (like the heel of a sock), hood or hood-collar. Choose any method and get down to business.

Step-by-step instructions with diagrams and a description of work

Someone just has to master the basics, and someone already has considerable experience in needlework behind them, but for each category of craftswomen, the basis of work remains step by step instructions with diagrams. They describe in detail, step by step, the sequence of actions that will lead to the creation of a beautiful, comfortable, original thing, knitted with their own hands. The description of the work - from color, thread thickness to assembly - excludes the appearance of an error when there is a desire to supplement a knitted thing with a functional detail.

Description of knitting sweaters with a hood from the neck

  1. Along the edge of the neck of the finished assembled product from the front side, make a set of the required number of loops. Fasten the working thread with a knitting needle at the beginning of the row, make a knot.
  2. The next 2 rows are knitted with the front stitch.
  3. Knit further to get a classic hood, it is necessary in shortened rows. The scheme is simple: when knitting the front row, do not bring it to the end, leaving last loop... At this point, the knitting must be turned, made a yarn, then knit a purl row, and unfold again without tying one loop. This is how two side parts are formed, which are knitted one after the other.
  4. The side hinges close when the part reaches the desired length.
  5. Tying the middle part of the hood, you need to pick up the side loops, finish the hood design with an English elastic band.

The uniqueness of this knitted item is that it has combined a scarf and a hat, which will protect the head, ears, neck from the cold wind, and the hairstyle from precipitation. A scarf-hood will add a fashionable touch to a casual look, but before you start needlework, it is worth learning a few nuances. It is better to knit such a product with a lapel so that it fits better on the face; the loops should not be too close to each other, but add, as well as decrease the loops on the hood, smoothly.

  1. For a scarf-hood, warm threads (wool) are chosen, and the size of the hat is the basis, only the measurement will have to be increased a little so that the product does not fit so close.
  2. Cast on the knitting needles the required number of loops, based on the calculation on the knitted sample (use a 10 x 10 square for convenience). Next, tie an elastic band 3-5 cm wide, and then a rectangle, choosing any pattern, alternating the front rows with the wrong ones.
  3. Finishing the canvas, it is necessary to divide the edge into three parts, two of which are knit mirror-like like a scarf, and the third is closed with a safety pin.
  4. The final stage involves assembling parts of the hood, the seam is made with the same thread with small stitches. Decorating the ends of the scarf will work without problems; tassels, pompons, fringes are suitable for this - everything to make the hem look beautiful.

  3. The fabric is knitted according to the pattern, not forgetting to smoothly decrease one loop in every second and fourth row.
  4. A few centimeters before the end, they begin to knit an elastic band, and when the height of the hood reaches the desired mark, the loops are closed. The fabric is folded in half, the edges are neatly sewn together to complete the knitting.

  2. Next, according to the pattern, knit the canvas, close the last row.
  3. The hem, both on one and on the other side of the lace, is knitted separately. To make the top of the scarf-collar look attractive and frame the face beautifully, it must be slightly narrowed when tying.
  4. Then they proceed to wristbands, which are knitted on stocking needles, closing them in a ring. Following the pattern, they first make the right and then the left wristband for the original set.

Do you remember the fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm: "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, wake up!" But here is another tale: finally, someone beautifully portrayed Felix the cat on a pullover with a hood.

Dimensions: 122/128 (134/140)

You will need: yarn 1 (100% wool; 160 m / 50 g) - 300 (350) g gray; yarn 2 (85% cotton, 15% polyamide; 150 m / 50 g) - 50 g black and 50 g white; knitting needles number 3.5 and 4; circular needles No. 4, length 60 cm.
Elastic: knit alternately 1 front, 1 purl.

Motive: knit according to the above scheme, each colored section - from a separate ball. To prevent holes from forming in the knitted fabric when changing color, cross the threads on the seamy side of the work.

Knitting density: 21 p.x 29 p. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with knitting needles No. 4 with yarn 1.

Back: on knitting needles No. 4, dial 94 (102) sts with crossed double gray thread and knit for the bottom bar 3 cm = 10 p. rubber band. Continue the work with the front satin stitch.

Through 42 (46) cm = 124 (134) p. from the bottom plank close the middle 30 points for the neckline and finish first left side... To round the neckline, close from the inner edge in every 2nd p. 2 times 1 st. Then close the remaining 30 (34) sts of the shoulder in one row. Finish the second side symmetrically.

Front: perform the lower bar as on the back. Continue the work with needles No. 4, distributing the loops and thread colors as follows: 18 (22) sts of gray, 58 sts according to the scheme, 18 (22) sts of gray. Having finished the scheme, knit with gray thread on all loops with the front satin stitch.

Through 37 (41) cm = 110 (120) p. from the bottom plank close the middle 24 points for the neckline and first finish the left side. To round the neckline, close from the inner edge in every 2nd p. 4 times 1 p. And in the next 4th p. 1 more time 1 p.

Through 7 cm = 20 p. from the beginning of the neckline, close the remaining 30 (34) shoulder sts in one row. Finish the second side symmetrically.

Sleeves: on needles No. 4, dial 42 stitches with crossed double gray thread and knit 3 cm = 10 p. rubber band. Continue the work with the front satin stitch, while in the 1st p. evenly add 6 p. = 48 p.

In the 7th p. add on both sides for bevels, first 1 p., then in each 6th p. 11 (14) more times 1 p. = 72 (78) p.

Through 27 (32) cm = 78 (92) p. from the elastic, close all the loops in one row.

Hood: perform shoulder seams. On circular knitting needles No. 4, dial 120 points along the edge of the neck with a gray thread. At the same time, in the middle of the front, dial the first 5 points from the outside, the last 5 points from inside= behind the first 5 sts. Knit in rows in forward and backward directions on the outer and inner 5 sts for the strap with an elastic band, on the remaining loops - with the front stitch.

Through 18 cm = 54 p. from the set of loops close the row = 120 p. and then on all loops knit with the front stitch alternately 4 p. black, 4 p. white (if necessary, as the deductions are made, go to stocking needles).

For decreases in the 1st p. mark every 29th p. and knit each marked loop with the previous and next loops together with a tilt to the left (= 2 p. remove, as in knitting, knit the next loop with the front one and pull the removed loops through the knitted one) = formed loop = marked loop ...

Repeat these decreases in the 1st p. each strip (in each such row, 8 points are reduced). In total, perform 13 strips = 8 stitches remain, knit 4 more p. On these loops. white thread, then pull off the loops with a working thread. For a pigtail, take 30 white and black threads each 80 cm long, pass through knitted fabric top of the cap and braid. At the bottom, wrap the pigtail with a black thread, leaving a tassel 3 cm long.

Assembly: Sew on sleeves. Execute side seams and the seams of the sleeves.

I make the calculations in centimeters, then translate them into loops.

My Pullover Pattern

This was the introduction.
So let's get started!
I chose the yarn for the pullover wool blend "Malyshok" from LAMA (Russia), 30% merino, 70% acrylic, 260m * 100gr, 2mm needles.
I will knit in a circle for size 74 (9 months).
The first thing I did was knit a pattern to figure out the knitting density.
For the sample, I took the pocket that will be on the pullover.
I tied a square 8 * 8 cm with a front stitch (21 loops * 30 rows), on the sides I knitted elastic bands 2 * 2 3 cm long.
The knitting density was: 28 loops * 35 rows (10 * 10 cm)
For 9 months, I took the average value between 6 months and 1 year (53-60 cm) = 56 cm from "Dimensions of the finished product (roughly)"
So, calculations: I need 156.8 loops for 56 cm of the smooth surface.
I will knit an elastic band 2 * 2 (n * 4), in facial surface go to 2 * 1 (n * 3). 156 stitches / 3 = 52. n = 52 loops.
This means that the elastic in circular knitting will be 52 * 4 = 208 loops, and the smooth surface is 52 * 3 = 156 loops. In the last row of elastic, knit every 2 purl loops into one.
I do all these calculations so that the elastic is as wide as the pullover itself and does not pull the product into an accordion. I do not like the accordion when changing from elastic to stitching. You can skip this step if you wish, simply by calculating the required number of loops for the circumference of the pullover.
We knit an elastic band 4 cm in height, then we move on to knitting the smooth surface until the beginning of the raglan - purl loops. I have 17 cm-60 rows.
07/03/2015 Supplement.
This is what was imposed today, while the son was sleeping:

The quality of the photos is not so hot, as soon as the camera is returned to me, the photos will be of the best quality. 07/08/2015 Supplement.

Description of work for size 74, knitting density 28p * 35r.
Front and back.
On toe knitting needles # 2, cast on 208 stitches, knit round 4 cm with 2x2 elastic band. In the last row of elastic, knit every two purl loops into one (156 loops turned out). Then continue knitting with satin stitch (purl loops). At a work height of 21 cm, close the loops for the armholes on the sides as follows: bind off 10 sts, knit 68 sts, bind 10 sts, knit a row to the end (136 sts). Set hinges aside.

Sleeves.
On toe knitting needles # 2, cast on 52 sts, knit round 4 cm with 2x2 elastic band. In the last row of elastic, knit every two purl loops into one (39 loops turned out). Then continue knitting in satin stitch (purl loops), adding 2 loops on both sides of the sleeves in 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31, 35, 38, 42, 45, 49, 52, 56, 59 rows = 73 stitches. Tie to 60 rows, close middle 10 sts from the inside (63 loops), set the remaining loops.

Raglan.
Transfer all loops to circular needles No. 3, placing sleeve loops between back and front = 262 sts. Close middle 10 sts in front to form a cut and then knit in straight and reverse rows with a pattern of braids (252 sts).
In the 1st row, at each junction of the parts, knit 2 stitches together. = 248 p. Mark 1 p. At each junction of the parts and then this loop and one loop on the right and left to knit (3 loops). At the same time, for the raglan bevels in the faces. In a row, perform decreases around every three loops as follows: in front of them, knit 2 sts together. broach (= remove 1 p. as persons., knit 1 person. p. and stretch it through the removed loop), then knit 3 persons. p. (= marked loops), then knit 2 sts together. = decreased by 8 points in 1 row. Repeat such decreases in every second row 16 times = 252-128 = 124 sts. Then, to cut the neckline, decrease 3 loops on both sides from the middle of the front in 3 rows (-18 loops). At the same time, continue to perform reductions for the raglan bevels in every 2nd row. Set aside the remaining loops.

Assembly.
Sew under the armpits.

10.07.20015

When knitting individual parts: back, in front of the sleeves. The calculation is as follows: on the back we decrease 5 loops on both sides 78-10 = 68 loops, at the front we kill 5 loops on both sides and 10 loops in the center (-20 loops), we get two halves of 29 loops, on the sleeves we decrease 5 sts on both sides 73-10 = 63 sts. On the raglan, there are 16 decreases in 2 loops (32 loops each: from the back 68-32 = 36p, from the sleeves 63-32 = 31p, from the front 58-32 = 26p). Then, a decrease in three loops per neckline of 3 rows begins - decrease three loops in each row (only from the front -18 p), at the same time it decreases in raglan 2 times. Then I knit one more row for one decrease in raglan. Remains 30 loops on the back and 25 loops on the sleeves.

17.07.15
I apologize for the long absence.
The schemes were made with errors - between the rows with crossed loops in a narrow braid there should be three rows, and in a wide one - seven rows.

7.08.15
So I returned after a short absence due to my son's ill health - it was not at all up to the pullover. Everyone is healthy now, t-t-t!

Corrected the calculations for the sleeve (it was short). The calculations for the raglan are not yet accurate. As soon as I tie up my sleeves and get into the raglan, I'll edit

The calculations were performed using the data from the tables I gave on the site

Dimensions: for the age of 3/4 (5/6) 7/8 (9/10) years; product width by chest girth: 69 (74) 80 (85) cm; product length: about 42 (46) 50 (54) cm.

You will need: yarn (100% merino wool; 50 g / 125 m) - 7 (7) 8 (9) skeins of light gray, 1 skein of pink and black; knitting needles number 3 and 3.5; circular needles No. 3 60 cm long and No. 3.5 40 cm long.

Knitting density: 22 p.x 28-30 p. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with front satin stitch. Attention: if the instructions indicate only one number / series of numbers, then these data refer to all sizes. Knit the edge loops in all rows with the front ones.

1 decrease: Remove 1 p., Knit the next loop with the front loop and pull the removed loop through the knitted one.

Front surface: front rows - front loops, purl rows - purl loops.

Back : on needles No. 3, cast on 86 (90) 98 (102) sts with black thread and knit 7 p. with an elastic band: * 2 persons., 2 out. *, repeat from * to *, finish 2 persons. Go to light gray thread and knit 1 person. a number of facial. In the next out. continue to knit a row with an elastic band and perform 8 p. (= end faces. next). Go to needles number 3.5 and knit 1 out. a number of facial. Next, knit with front stitch and in the next person. row evenly subtract 8 (6) 8 (6) sts. = on the needles 78 (84) 90 (96) sts. With a part length of 26 (29) 32 (35) cm, close on both sides for armholes of 3 (3) 4 (4) p. In the following persons. a number of start raglanny decreases: persons. chrome chrome. Repeat these decreases in every 2nd p. - in total, perform 22 (24) 26 (28) decreases on each side. Close the remaining 28 (30) 30 (32) sts in one row.

Front : knit like a back, up to the length of the part 8 (11) 14 (17) cm. From the next person. row in the middle of the front, start knitting the "Flamingo" motif, distributing the loops of the motif from the middle, as shown in the diagram. The motif is performed using the tapestry knitting technique, i.e. for the side fragments of the background, small balls of yarn of the main color are used to avoid long broaches on the seamy side of the work. When the length of the part is 26 (29) 32 (35) cm, close the loops for the armholes, as on the back. Perform regular decreases in the same way as described for the back - in total, perform 12 (14) 16 (18) decreases on each side = on the needles 48 (50) 50 (52) p. Then close the middle 8 (10) 10 ( 12) p. And finish both sides separately. From the inner edge, close for the neck 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 p. Simultaneously, from the outer edge, continue the ragged decreases = perform 8 more times until 3 p. Are left on the needles. Tear off the thread, 1 p. remove, knit 2 sts together, pull the removed loop through the knitted one and pull the thread through the last loop. Finish the second side in the same way.

Right sleeve: with black thread, dial 42 (46) 46 (50) sts and knit with an elastic band, as described for the back. Finish knitting with the front row. Go to needles number 3.5 and knit 1 out. a number of facial. Next, knit with the front stitch and in the next person. In a row, evenly subtract 0 (2) 0 (2) sts. = On the needles 42 (44) 46 (48) sts. In the 5th p. of the front surface (= front row), perform 1 increase on both sides (after / before the edge loop). Repeat these increments in every 4th p. (alternately in every 4th p. and every 6th p.) alternately in every 4th p. and every 6th p. (alternately in every 4th p. and every 6th p.) - in total, perform 13 (14) 16 (17) increments on each side = on the needles 68 (72) 78 (82) p. When the sleeve length is 27 (30) 33 (36) cm, close for armhole on both sides by 3 (3) 4 (4) p. In the next person. a number of start raglanny decreases: persons. chrome., 2 p. knit together the front, knit to the last 3 p. on the knitting needle, 1 decrease, persons. chrome. Repeat regular reductions in every 2nd p. - in total, perform 20 (22) 24 (26) decreases on each side = 22 p. Then at the beginning of the faces. close rows in 6, 7, 7 p., continuing at the end of the front rows to perform raglan reductions = 2 more times.

Left sleeve: knit like right, but only in mirror image, i.e. close the loops for the upper bevel at the beginning of the wear. rows.

Assembly: perform ragged seams, sleeve seams and side seams.

Hood : on circular knitting needles No. 3.5, 40 cm long, with a light gray thread, dial 92 (96) 96 (100) sts along the edge of the neckline and knit in a circle: 1st p. - purl, then 3 p. - front satin stitch. In the 4th p. of the front surface, close the middle 30 (32) 32 (34) p. of the front (for the front opening). Continue knitting the hood on circular needles No. 3.5, 60 cm long, in forward and backward directions. All rows begin and end with the front edge. On the needles - 62 (64) 64 (66) sts. Mark 2 middle loops - the middle of the back neckline. In the next person. in a row, perform increases on both sides of the marked back hinges and decreases at the front opening: persons. chrome. (from the front hole), knit 2 stitches together with the front one, knit up to 2 marked loops, 1 increase, knit 2 marked loops, 1 increase, knit until the last 3 points on a knitting needle, 1 decrease, persons. chrome. Repeat the decrease at the front opening in every 2nd p. - only 6 times, and the increments in the middle of the back in every 4th p. - only 10 (10) 11 (12) times = on the needles 70 (72) 74 (78) sts. When the length of the hood is 21 (22) 23 (24) cm (measure from the back in the middle), divide the loops in the middle and finish both sides apart. Transfer the loops of one side to the auxiliary knitting needle. From the inner edge (back), close at the beginning of every 2nd p. by 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 14 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 15) 1, 1, 1, 1, 2 , 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 15 (1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 17) sts. Knit the other side the same way. Sew the halves of the hood (sew from bottom to top).

Hood placket: on circular needles No. 3 60 cm long, cast on a light gray thread along the edge of the loop hood: 1 st from each closed loop horizontally; on beveled sections and along vertical edges - 1 st from each row, skipping every 4th row (the total number of loops should be a multiple of 4). Knit in a circle: 1st p. - purl, then 7 p. - elastic band = alternately 2 persons. and 2 out. Cut the thread and turn on the black thread. Knit 1 p. facial, then perform 8 p. with an elastic band, while in the last row close the loops.
