How to paint a mold in a washing machine. How and what to dye fabric black at home

There is hardly a person who has never tried to dye his clothes. With the help of industrial and natural dyes, it is easy to renew old worn jeans or make a faded blouse brighter and more expressive. The dyeing process will not cause any particular difficulties, if you carefully observe the dosage of dyes and take into account the peculiarities of the composition of the material.

Preparation for painting

Before starting work, you need to prepare everything you need, namely:

  • things intended for coloring;
  • container and devices for turning the fabric;
  • dyes and rinses.

How to properly prepare clothes for painting

You will have to remove the accessories from the clothes before painting.
  1. First of all, you should wash your clothes thoroughly. If old or other stubborn substances remain on the fabric, you should definitely get rid of them. Otherwise, the fabric in this place will be painted unevenly, and there will be clearly visible stains, which will greatly spoil the appearance of the product.
  2. Then you will have to remove the accessories - cut off buttons and decorations, whip metal zippers, since the surface of these parts can be damaged during painting and later become rusty.
  3. If it is decided to paint a new one or, it is necessary to remove the layer of starch with which the manufacturer usually impregnates such fabrics. To do this, prepare a soapy solution, add a little soda and boil the clothes for 25 minutes, and then rinse them thoroughly.
  4. When dyeing woolen yarn, you need to make sure that the threads do not intertwine with each other and do not get tangled. To do this, it is divided into small parts and collected in loose skeins, which are tied in two or three places with twine.

The choice of containers and accessories for staining

After the clothes are prepared for painting, you can start choosing a container.

  1. Any clean dish will do, be it an enamel bowl or an aluminum pan. The main thing is that there are no traces of scale or carbon deposits on the inner surface of the metal.
  2. Pay special attention to the size of the container. The pan should be of such a volume that the thing to be painted is located in the solution freely, does not crumple and does not rise above the surface of the water.

You will need wooden tongs to stir and turn the product while working. If there is no such device on the farm, you can use ordinary wooden sticks, having previously cleaned the surface of knots and irregularities.

It is better to take soft water for the procedure, for example, rain or thawed. If this is not possible, then ordinary tap water can be softened with baking soda, for which 1 tbsp. l. the powder is dissolved in 10 l of water.

How to paint a product yourself

The choice of paint depends on the composition of the fabric and the preferences of the owner of the garment.

Textile paint is available in the following form:

  • aerosol,
  • pastes,
  • powder.

It is suitable for use when painting by hand or in a washing machine. The choice of coloring agent depends on the composition of the fabric and the personal preference of the owner of the garment.

Before starting work, it is necessary to accurately determine the composition of the product. If the label is erased or lost and it is not possible to find out reliable information about the composition, you can set fire to the thread from the product. Synthetic and natural fibers emit different "aromas" when burning:

  • synthetics smells like chemistry;
  • natural wool or cotton emit the smell of burnt hair.

The easiest way is to repaint a thing made from natural materials. Synthetics are difficult to color and quickly lose their newly acquired shade.

The general rules for using universal fabric paint are the same regardless of which manufacturer the product is released by. However, when starting to dye, it will be superfluous to study the instructions attached to the product in order to know exactly the dosage and nuances of using a particular dye.

Important! All work with the dye must be carried out with rubber gloves.

If the dye does not require heating the water, then it is better to work in the bathroom, having previously protected easily dirty objects with a waterproof film. Then the following activities are carried out:

  • Pour paint into a container with warm water and stir thoroughly. The amount of water and dye is determined in advance depending on the weight of the garment and the dosage indicated by the manufacturer on the package.
  • The product is lowered into the solution and kept for half an hour, stirring occasionally and making sure that the fabric does not wrinkle.
  • As soon as the product acquires an intense black color, it can be removed from the solution and rinsed in cool water, adding 1 tbsp. l. vinegar.

Important! If you need to paint several items, paint them one at a time.

Often, according to the instructions, heating of the dye solution is required, then proceed as follows:

  • A container with paint dissolved in water is put on a slow fire and heated to a temperature of 60 ° C.

Important! When dyeing wool and silk, 50 ml of 25% vinegar essence is added to the solution.

  • The item prepared for coloring is immersed in a hot solution for an hour, maintaining a constant temperature of no more than 60 ° C and stirring occasionally.
  • After the allotted time, the product is washed in a machine or by hand at a water temperature of 40 ° C and rinsed with the addition of vinegar.

In the future, wash and rinse black-colored clothes separately from the rest of the clothes, and add vinegar with each rinse.

Dyeing in the washing machine

For coloring in a washing machine, a washing mode is set in which the cycle duration does not exceed 30 minutes.

You can use a washing machine to dye your clothes. Modern dyes have compositions that are completely safe for the operation of household appliances, and the process itself is easier and faster than manually.

  • 0.5 l of hot water is poured into the container and one package of dye is poured. Mix thoroughly, trying to dissolve all grains of powder and get a homogeneous mixture.
  • Things are turned inside out and loaded into the washing machine. When painting, do not use washing powder and conditioner.
  • The coloring matter is poured into the machine. You can simply tear the paint bags and put them on top of your clothes.
  • When dyeing silk or other delicate fabrics, add 150 ml of 25% vinegar essence.
  • A washing mode is set in which the water temperature does not rise above 60 ° C and the cycle duration is no more than 30 minutes, including rinsing.
  • After the end of the staining, a second wash is carried out at a temperature of 40 ° C, which will allow the paint to adhere well.

The products are dried by spreading them out on a horizontal surface away from radiators and avoiding direct sunlight.

To completely clean the drum of the machine from traces of dye, it is necessary to carry out one cycle in the "rinse" mode using chlorine bleach.

Natural dyes

In addition to aniline and acrylic paints, there are natural dyes, which are normal products. You can repaint the product black with coffee, tobacco or hair dye:

  • Coffee will help restore the intense black color of the fabric that has lost its original appearance. For coloring, it is necessary to prepare so much instant or boiled coffee so that the liquid can cover the item to be painted. The stronger the drink, the brighter the color of the fabric will be. The coffee is brought to a boil, removed from the heat, and the item prepared for coloring is immersed in a saucepan for an hour. The more the fabric is in the solution, the more the fibers will be colored.
  • Instead of coffee, you can take tobacco. To prepare the coloring solution, 15 g of tobacco is poured into 1 liter of water and boiled, after which the product intended for painting is immersed in the container.

For those people who rarely paint things from their wardrobe, the helpful tips and tricks listed below can come in handy.

  • If you have to paint the product for the first time, it is better to practice on an old unnecessary thing, which, in case of failure, you do not mind throwing away.
  • To accurately determine the correct amount of dye, the textiles must be weighed.
  • If the thing to be repainted is supposed to be altered, then it should be ripped apart in advance.
  • Uneven color in synthetic fabric can be corrected by immersing the garment in hot soapy water.
  • Garments painted in black should be washed separately from other clothing. The fact is that they can shed and ruin all other things in the drum.

Dyeing your favorite clothes black, carried out at home, will not only return the products to a bright saturated color, but also save time and money. The main thing is to buy paint from trusted manufacturers, follow the instructions and listen to the advice of experienced housewives.

If you decide to give a bright color to your old favorite jeans, you can paint them yourself at home. In this way, you can inexpensively and simply update a thing so as not to purchase a new one. At the same time, along with painting jeans in any color (blue, black or other), you can additionally decorate them with interesting and unusual accessories.

To dye your jeans without any problems, you need to prepare your jeans for dyeing.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. wash the garment thoroughly in the usual way (by hand or in the washing machine);
  2. dry jeans;
  3. any stain that remains on the surface can change the staining not for the best, so you need to carefully remove each of them;
  4. when choosing a dye, you should pay attention to the recommendations for dyeing (not every fabric can endure contact with one or another substance);
  5. it is necessary to prepare the dye by carefully diluting it with water, with the obligatory breaking of lumps and filtering through a thin cloth, which will allow achieving uniformity in staining.

Denim dyeing products

There are many dyes that can be used to change the color of denim. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, as well as features of impact and application.

Special paints for fabrics

At the hardware store, you can find paint for your denim to your liking. These products are powdery and are used to dye things in the washing machine.

The paint application process looks like this:

  1. dilute the substance, according to the attached instructions, if necessary;
  2. turn the product inside out;
  3. set the device to the temperature that is acceptable for this type of fabric;
  4. put jeans in the washing machine, pour powder for dyeing on top (unless otherwise indicated in the instructions: often it must be diluted in water or mixed with some soda);
  5. do not add fabric softener, its effect can change the desired result to an unrecognizable one;
  6. set the washing mode that is necessary (most often it will be "washing cotton or linen", with a water temperature of 80 to 90 degrees);
  7. when the wash is over, take out the jeans and rinse them by hand in a large amount of cool water, to which add a little vinegar to fix the color;
  8. now washing starts again, in a short mode, for which you need to pour washing powder into the compartment of the machine;
  9. dry the product only naturally, away from heating appliances.

Photo painting

Hair dye

When choosing a method that allows you to dye jeans at home, do not forget about hair dye as an excellent tool. This method is somewhat unusual, but it gives excellent results: the color holds well and turns out to be bright.

You can paint your trousers like this:

  • prepare paint of the desired shade (it is better to take 2 packs);
  • dilute the paint in the usual way, then add it to water, the amount of which should completely cover the product;
  • put jeans in a solution and leave for 1.5-2 hours;

How to dye jeans at home
  • rinse the pants for the first time in room temperature water, the second time in cold water, to which add a little vinegar and salt;
  • wash the product with a detergent;
  • hang up your pants to dry in the fresh air.

Blue

Blue is a composition in which starch and blue paint are combined. It works great on various fabrics, including denim.

The most common dyes are:

  • blue aniline;
  • paris blue;
  • indigo carmine;
  • ultramarine;
  • Prussian blue.

You need to apply it like this:

  • dilute the blue in cold water and mix it with warm liquid: it is important to do everything in accordance with the instructions, some of the substances work during washing, some during rinsing. As a rule, there is 0.3-0.5 grams per kilogram of denim. substances;
  • straighten clean jeans and lower them into the solution;
  • water should evenly soak the product so that the staining takes place equally on all parts of the thing;
  • after 2 hours or 12 hours (if you need a very rich shade of blue), the jeans can be taken out;
  • rinse the pants in 2-3 waters, adding vinegar (5-7 tablespoons per 10 liters) or table salt to the last one.

Blue tends to wash out quickly from denim, so the staining will have to be repeated soon.

White

When deciding how to dye jeans at home, not many people think about using whiteness. It allows you to achieve the effect of a burnt out blue tint, the so-called "boiled water". A couple of decades ago, this style was very popular.

You can still get jeans of this shade today:

  • Dilute 250 ml of "Whiteness" in 10 liters of pure water
  • twist jeans into a roller and secure with an elastic band;
  • lower the product into a bucket so that it is completely covered with a solution;
  • boil for 15 minutes;
  • do not allow the pants to rise above the surface of the solution;
  • be sure to ventilate the kitchen at the time of boiling, the evaporating smell will be quite pungent.

Potassium permanganate

Potassium permanganate allows you to give jeans a beautiful shade and freshness of the newly purchased product.

An important point: you do not need to boil jeans in this case, which makes the whole process easier.

It's easy to use manganese for coloring:

  • first you need to mix the following ingredients: potassium permanganate in crystals (about 80 gr.), 9% vinegar (120 ml), hydrogen peroxide (30 ml);
  • dilute the resulting composition with water 2 to 1;
  • roll jeans into a tight bundle and fix with white elastic bands;
  • lower the product into the mixture;

  • withstand 20 minutes, promptly dipping pop-up jeans to the bottom;
  • pull out the pants and rinse them in the basin;
  • put the product in the washing machine and run 2 rinsing stages in a row, with the addition of liquid detergent;
  • dry the pants as usual, but away from the battery.

Zelenka

The brilliant green medical solution is able to give annoying jeans an interesting and fresh shade of emerald.

It is extremely simple to reproduce such staining:

  • dilute the green stuff in a large volume of water, adding as much solution as needed to achieve the desired color saturation. Typically, half a bucket of water requires about 10 ml of solution (this is a standard bottle from a pharmacy);
  • stir the greenery thoroughly;
  • dip jeans into the resulting mixture;
  • withstand the product for half an hour;
  • turn the pants from one side to the other in order to achieve uniform coloring;
  • take out jeans and rinse them thoroughly in several waters with the addition of a small amount of vinegar.

Acrylic paints

You can paint jeans at home using traditional methods or special paints based on acrylic. The result from such an impact will be of a much higher quality.

On the shelves you can find different shades of such paints: from neon colors to noble silver. Acrylic paints are water-soluble, due to which a complete and uniform coloring of the product is achieved. In addition, you can apply stencils and apply any pattern to your pants that you like. In fact, it will not even be painting, but painting the product.

The process of drawing a pattern on jeans looks like this:

  • turn clean and dry jeans inside out;
  • having chosen a shade, dilute the paint in water, according to the attached instructions;
  • apply a drawing with your own hands or through a stencil;
  • put a sheet of paper over the face of the product and gently iron the jeans.

The process is very simple, however, such staining is not durable, after numerous washes, the pattern may lose its contours and completely wash off. This moment cannot be called a disadvantage, because the owner of the pants gets another opportunity to transform his thing and surprise others with an unusual design.

Spray can

The use of aerosol paints is no different from the use of acrylics. It is necessary to spray such a composition onto a clean, even fabric by randomly applying or strictly following the stencil.

Aniline paints

Aniline-based powders have been known for more than a dozen years; today they are more stable and withstand well the effects of the environment and numerous washes. These substances should be applied in the same way as other types of paints.

It is important to adhere to a few rules:

  • the most convenient are liquid formulations that do not require dilution;
  • it is convenient to apply this dye with soft brushes, with squirrel or ferret bristles;
  • aniline tends to spread over the surface, which allows you to create interesting transitions from one color to another;
  • if you do not want the effect of dripping paint, you can mix 1 part of aniline and 3 parts of tragacanth glue;
  • a good drawing is obtained if gelatin dissolved in water is added to the active substance. After soaking in this compound, jeans can be dried and worn.

Dillon

To dye boring jeans in black or blue shades, you can purchase the Dillon product in the store. One pack is enough for a pair of pants.

The coloring is like this:

  • select the cycle with the hottest water in the washing machine menu;
  • Add "Dillon" to the powder compartment;
  • put clean jeans in the drum;
  • start washing;
  • at the end of the mode, start the second wash by adding a non-aggressive type of washing powder to the machine;
  • turn on the rinse mode and dry the product in the fresh air.

Herbs, berries, vegetables

You can dye jeans yourself, at home, using both artificial dyes and natural remedies.

Different ingredients give different shades and colors:

  • orange: onion skins and fresh carrots;
  • yellow: laurel, turmeric, dried calendula;
  • brown: tea leaves, oak bark, nutshells;
  • pink: raspberries and cherries;
  • green: sorrel root and spinach greens;
  • blue: blueberries, cauliflower, dried cornflower;
  • gray: blackberries;
  • blue: cabbage with a head of cabbage red;
  • red: beets and pomegranate seeds.

An important fact: berry juices give the brightest and most persistent coloration.

Jeans painting technology:

  • squeeze juice from berries, make a decoction of herbs;
  • put jeans in a container with dye;
  • keep the product in a container for 4-5 hours, periodically straightening and turning it over;
  • rinse your pants in a solution of vinegar or salt;
  • dry on the balcony.

Jeans painting methods

Jeans can be dyed using different technologies, the choice of which depends on the type of dye, type of fabric and the wishes of the owner.

"Varenki"

You can add a boiled-down effect to your jeans by using chlorine-based bleach. Pants will have picturesque snow-white stains, and will attract the attention of others.

The process of making dumplings is as follows:

  • pour 250-300 ml of bleach into a metal bucket with water;
  • twist clean jeans several times, tie them tightly with a rope;
  • in a rolled-up form, immerse the product in the composition;
  • put the container on the stove and boil for 20 minutes;
  • rinse the item in cool water and dry in the usual way.

In the washing machine

A washing machine can make the dyeing process easier. However, it is possible that she herself can get dirty in the dye.

You need to dye jeans like this:

  • wash the product thoroughly and dry it;
  • prepare the coloring composition, if it requires dilution in water - get rid of all the lumps by filtering it through the fabric;
  • put jeans in the car, pour out the composition;
  • select the required mode (at least 2 hours, with a temperature maximum that the fabric of jeans will allow);
  • after washing, place the item in a bowl with slightly salted water for 30 minutes;
  • start another washing mode to remove the dye;
  • after staining, inspect the drum of the machine, if there are traces of paint on the door gum, wash it with laundry soap.

In enameled dishes

The manual staining process involves the use of an enamel bowl.

It goes like this:

  • dilute the coloring matter in a separate container, strain it;
  • stir the paint in a bowl with 7-8 liters of water;
  • heat a bowl on the stove;
  • put jeans in hot liquid;
  • boil the product for an hour;
  • rinse the thing in hot and cold waters;
  • fix the color by rinsing in a vinegar solution;
  • wash jeans with a mild detergent.

Caring for the product. How to keep color for longer

As soon as the jeans are dyed at home, you need to think about the color preservation. To do this, you need to follow several principles:

  • Inadmissibility of washing the product in hot water.
  • Use for washing laundry soap.
  • The choice of a delicate washing mode in an automatic machine or gentle washing by hand.
  • Prohibition of the use of fabric softener.
  • Washing separately from other things.

Dyeing jeans is not the most difficult process that anyone can handle at home. The main thing is to carefully select the dye, follow the instructions and properly care for the pants after painting.

An interesting video about ways to dye jeans at home

How to bleach marbled jeans:

The idea of painting jeans with acrylic paints:

What is not done with jeans to give them a fashionable look - tinder, boil down, tear, decorate with rhinestones and decorate with appliques. Aged denim has been popular for a long time. But lovers of conservative monochromatic trousers, on the contrary, prefer to dye their jeans if they begin to dry and lose their color uniformity.

If you decide to dye your jeans, it is not necessary to take them to the dry cleaner - you can restore the color of the fabric yourself at home. For coloring, both special dyes and a variety of improvised means are suitable.

It is easier to achieve a high-quality uniform dyeing of the fabric when the selected paint matches the original color or is darker than it. That is, it is easy to repaint any jeans in black, but turning black trousers, for example, into blue ones, is unlikely to work.

How and what to dye black jeans

In the case of black jeans, we can only talk about color restoration, so black dyes are needed.

Fabric paint

How to dye black jeans at home? If you do not like experiments and surprises, buy special dyes for fabric.

Dyes for textiles in ancient times were made from natural materials (minerals and plants), now most of the paints are based on chemicals

Before dyeing your jeans black, be sure to make sure they are clean and free of stains. Any greasy or dirty spots will change the structure of the fibers, and the paint in such places will not lie flat. Accordingly, the stains must first be removed, and then the trousers must be washed without using conditioner (it may interfere with further dyeing). Before you dye your jeans, you need to dry them, turn out all the pockets and the pants themselves inside out.

Helpful Hint: If you are trimming denim to shorten it to the length you want, don't throw away the leftover material. These pieces can be used later to test the action of solvents and dyes when staining or dyeing jeans is required.

The next stage of preparation is familiarization with the instructions for using the dye and the choice of a convenient staining method. You can dye jeans either manually or using a washing machine. Let's consider each of the methods in detail.

Dyeing in the washing machine

First of all, prepare the paint as directed in the instructions. Remember that it is better not to put dry powder into the machine, but to pre-dilute the dyes (powder and even liquid) in a small amount of hot water to avoid the formation of lumps and clots. The presence of dense fragments will result in stains on the fabric. If you want to achieve an even and lasting color, strain the paint solution through cheesecloth several times until a homogeneous mass is obtained.

Pour the prepared dye into the drum of the washing machine and add (if required by the instructions) salt, soda or a color fixer, which is sometimes included with the paint itself. Put your jeans inside out and well-stretched into the car. Denim labels usually list the recommended wash temperature up to 40 ℃, but this may not be enough for dyeing. A better result will be obtained if you select a mode with a temperature of 90-95 ℃ and a cycle duration of 1.5-2 hours.

Powder and fabric softener should not be added to the washing machine when dyeing jeans - products can ruin the result.

While the jeans are in the machine, prepare a rinse solution: add 1-2 tbsp. To 1 liter of warm water. l. 9% vinegar.

Soda and salt are sometimes added to fix the color when staining, but 9% table vinegar is rightfully considered the most effective remedy.

After the machine is finished, the painted things are taken out of the drum and immersed in a vinegar solution for 10-15 minutes. The jeans are then sent back to the wash using the normal cycle (up to 40 ℃) and detergents for colored fabrics. The repeated cycle will help wash the remaining ink off the fabric and from the machine itself. All that remains is to dry the updated jeans, and also wipe the seals and rubber pads of the washing machine with a damp sponge.

Dyeing in the washing machine will not harm the equipment itself, but a small amount of tinted water may remain in the drum, which can harm your belongings. To protect yourself from unplanned dyeing of light-colored clothes and laundry in subsequent washings, run the machine again in idle mode. By the way, it's a good idea to add citric acid at the same time - at the same time, clean your unit from scale.

Hand painting

It is not difficult to dye jeans by hand.

For uniform dyeing of clothes, you will need a large container that can be put on fire and in which things can be straightened as much as possible

The preliminary steps will be the same as for machine dyeing: the jeans are inspected and, if necessary, washed, and then dried and turned inside out. The paint is diluted and filtered to remove lumps.

In order to dye jeans, it is best to take a large enamel bowl with a volume of 6-10 liters, fill it 2/3 with water and put it on fire. After the water heats up, all the necessary ingredients (paint, soda, salt) are added to it. The solution is mixed well, and the prepared things are immersed in it so that they are completely covered with water. To prevent jeans from floating up, they need to be periodically submerged under water and turned over using available tools. The dyeing process in hot (but not boiling!) Water will take 40-60 minutes. At the same time, it is advisable to cover the container with a lid so that less chemicals are evaporated into the air, and ventilation must be provided in the room.

At the end of digestion, the jeans should be rinsed first in warm water and then in cold running water. To fix the color, they are also soaked for 10-15 minutes in a weak solution of 9% vinegar (1-2 tablespoons per 1 liter of water).

The great advantage of hand coloring is that you can control the entire process and get creative with it. Different types of curls, tucks, creases of the fabric can give a unique result in the form of unusual patterns or ornaments, color spots and streaks or the popular "boiled-down" effect on jeans.

Alternative dyes for black jeans

If for some reason you are not satisfied with ready-made dyes for textiles, there are other options. True, they are all very controversial and more expensive.

Hair dye

In order to dye jeans black, you need black hair dye, preferably without ammonia and with natural pigments.

To dye one pair of jeans, you will need two packs of hair dye. In a small volume of water (it should be enough to completely immerse the fabric), the dye is diluted without oxidants and other additives. The water with the dye is mixed well so that the solution is homogeneous, jeans are placed in it and left for 1-1.5 hours. To achieve even dyeing, the fabric needs to be crimped and rotated from time to time.

Remember to wear gloves when handling dye.

After soaking in the dye composition, things need to be rinsed and immersed in a vinegar solution for another 15-20 minutes. For better color fixation, it is advised to add table salt to the vinegar at the rate of 1 tbsp. l. for 1 liter of water. It is important to understand that such staining will not be permanent and the jeans will fade with each subsequent wash.

Marker ink

To paint jeans, it is advised to take a few black felt-tip pens, disassemble them, and dip the ink refills in cool water. When the water turns black, jeans are immersed in it and kept for at least 1 hour.

Aerosol and acrylic paints

They are used not really for coloring, but rather for decorating your favorite things.

Spray paints are simply sprayed over the surface of laid out jeans, and acrylic paints are applied using brushes or the edge of a sponge. At the same time, it is almost impossible to achieve uniform coloring, but you can safely create, showing all your imagination. Interesting results can be obtained by using stencils. After dyeing, acrylic is fixed to the fabric by ironing with a hot iron, laying the jeans on top and bottom with layers of white paper.

How to dye blue jeans

Let's go straight to the description of the tools with which you can restore the rich blue color of your jeans.

The traditional denim dye used to be made from the Indian indigo plant, from which it gets its name. Its color is characterized as a medium between dark blue and purple. To dye jeans at home, to provide them with an even and lasting blue color, they use ready-made textile paints and improvised means.

Blue

Blue in the form of a solution or powder is one of the most affordable and easy-to-use dyes.

Dyeing jeans blue is quite simple - you don't even have to boil them. It is enough to make a saturated concentrated solution using cool water (about 30 ℃) with the addition of 1-2 tbsp. l. salt for color fastness, and immerse things in it. It is advised to withstand jeans for 1.5-2 hours or even a whole night, while it is important to ensure that the fabric is completely immersed in water. After soaking, the jeans are placed in a cold vinegar solution for 10-15 minutes.

It is necessary to dry the painted things in a flattened form, it is best to spread them out on a horizontal surface. Otherwise, the water flowing down the folds will wash off the color, making it uneven.

A serious drawback of blue staining is that the color quickly disappears with subsequent washings, and the procedure will need to be repeated regularly.

Dailon

Daylon is one of the novelties in household chemicals designed for both washing and dyeing denim. The product is convenient, economical and quickly gaining popularity among fans of classic denim.

Aniline fabric dyes

The use of aniline dyes for blue jeans has some peculiarities.

If you want to dye jeans, keep in mind that all decorative stitching with threads (traditional yellow-orange shades) will also be dyed and become the same color as the fabric.

When using aniline dyes, table salt must be added for color stability. The details of the technology and the required proportions must be indicated by the manufacturer on the packaging. Usually a packet of powder paint is designed for 7-10 liters of water. It is first diluted in a small volume, achieving complete dissolution, and then poured into a full volume of water. Salt (100 g) is poured there and mixed thoroughly. Things for coloring are immersed in a container in a straightened form and make sure that they are completely covered with a solution.

Ready-made paints in liquid forms wash out faster and are more suitable for refreshing the basic tone. To paint jeans with high quality or completely change their original color, it is advisable to choose paints in the form of powder formulations.

Feel free to experiment and give new life to your favorite things!

Video

We offer for viewing a video on the topic of the article:

I needed the dye for my jeans after an unsuccessful wash, when white streaks appeared on the fabric. Having searched the Internet for coloring options, I learned a lot of interesting things. But the discovery for me was that you can dye clothes directly in the washing machine- no boiling on the stove!

Prices for dye in online stores vary widely: from 20 to 700 rubles + delivery... But my damaged jeans were bought on Ali for only 800 rubles, of course I stopped my choice on the cheapest domestic paint - blue jeans... To my surprise, the dye was found without any problems in my town for 95 rbl.

So, on the box there is an instruction for painting by hand and in a washing machine. I chose the second option. In addition to the dye itself, we also need salt and 9% vinegar.

The dye is a dark blue-gray powder with white blotches, packed in a regular zip-lock bag.

Do not forget to put on the gloves that are included at the very beginning, otherwise you will walk with blue fingers)))

Dyeing process.

Everything is very simple: pour coloring powder, 250 g of salt and wet jeans into the drum of the machine.

We set a program suitable for the fabric (I chose a wash at 30 degrees), turn it on and wait.

When the program ends, rinse the jeans in acidified water to fix the color. To do this, I installed the Rinse program, and poured 6 tablespoons of 9% vinegar into the rinse aid compartment.

By the way, at both stages of staining I turned off the "Spin" mode since it is because of him, it seems to me, that those very white divorces appeared, with which I am struggling.

And here are the results:

The color, of course, has changed a lot. But I expected this, tk. I didn’t save money and poured out the entire packet of dye, although according to the instructions, half was enough for me.

Jeans BEFORE staining were light blue with white streaks

Painting jeans blue

If your favorite jeans or denim overalls have lost their former brightness, do not despair and rush to throw them away. There are fairly simple ways to return jeans to their previous look at home in a washing machine. The first painting method involves the use of a special blue dye.

Staining is quite simple, the main thing is to adhere to the following recommendations:

Blue - this method can rather freshen the color a little, rather than radically update it. Load the product into the washer and set the mode appropriate for the fabric. Then dilute 10 drops of blue in 30 ml of warm water, pour into the conditioner compartment. After washing, rinse in vinegar to set color. Hang to dry on the balcony or other place you are used to.

Painting jeans black

When your favorite black jeans have lost their former color saturation, it's time to learn how to dye jeans in a washing machine.

The mechanism looks like this:

  • Wash your pants if they are dirty, and if not, just wet them. Then dilute the black dye in warm water, as long as all the particles are completely dissolved. Add 250 grams of table salt.
  • Load the product into the drum and pour the dye into the same.
  • Set mode with maximum allowable temperature... Run.
  • At the end of the cycle rinse in vinegar solution.
  • Wash as usual at 30 degrees using liquid powder.
  • Dry.

Also, with the help of black, you can repaint the previously not obtained staining in a lighter shade.

Dyes used

The following tools are used to work with jeans:

  • Aniline dyes, are produced in two consistencies: powder, liquid. Designed for both natural and synthetic fabrics. Very often, manufacturers make dye preparations for a specific fabric composition.
  • Natural dyes, onion peel, beet juice, cones, berries. They are popular due to their environmental friendliness.

Blue, a cheap tool, but its minus is the fragility of staining, that is, the procedure must be repeated periodically.
