Now we start tying the skirt. First, we tie the thread and knit two rows of double crochet just up, continuing the shorts. Then we do a little trick - we change the direction of knitting, that is, now we knit from the inside out of the shorts. We knit two rows with a double crochet elastic.

This we tied the place where the belt or elastic will be inserted. Now we need to increase the number of loops. We knit one row simply with double crochets. I doubled each loop of the previous row. But in each case it is necessary to focus on the pattern that will be knitted on the skirt. That is, we count the number of columns in the elastic band, double them. We need the number of columns to be a multiple of the number of loops in the pattern. I will give an example of calculation:
let there be 80 columns in our garment. And in the picture - 15. That is, we need the number of loops to be a multiple of 15. Doubling the number of columns - 160. 160 is not divisible by 15. But it divides 165. That is, we need to add 5 more columns. Where can I get them? It is necessary to evenly divide them around the entire perimeter of the skirt. 80: 5 = 16. That is, we will double 15 columns, and triple every 16th. I hope it is clear with the calculation.
Well, in fact, further we simply knit a skirt in length-height, until we reach the length of the shorts. And now to make it clear why we changed the direction of knitting and knitted from the inside out of the shorts. As a result, we will fold like this - that is, the front side of the skirt will become the face, as it should be. Fold the elastic at the beginning.
