For this you are offered detailed master class... And before that, you need to study the preparatory steps and photos of possible types of clothing.

Taking measurements

This is a crucial step on which the final result will depend.

Prepare the following tools for taking measurements:

  • paper;
  • pen;
  • centimeter tape.

The number of measurements will depend on what kind of garment you want to sew or knit.

  1. Before you sew or knit something, take the measurement from the chest first. To do this, command the dog to Sit.
  2. The rest of the measurements are taken when the dog is standing. In this case, the pet should not hump its back and tighten its paws.
  3. For everything to be successful, it is advisable to put the dog in a rack as at the show: the back is straight, the head is raised.

When determining the size of your clothes, be prepared for changes to ready-made schemes, according to which you are going to sew or knit a sweater for a dog.

It would be ideal if you draw up an exact scheme of clothing in accordance with the characteristics of your pet's breed.

Basic measurements for removal:

  1. DI. Length of the product. Typically measured from the collar to where you want the sweater to end.
  2. OSH. Neck volume. To make the measurement easier, simply remove the collar from your pet.
  3. OG. Breast volume. It is necessary to start measuring immediately behind the front legs.
  4. DR. It is better to adjust the sleeve length after the main product is knitted.

Required tools

First of all, you should choose a quality yarn that will not cause any inconvenience to your pet.

In addition, you will need the following tools:

  • measuring tape (constantly monitor the size of the product);
  • knitting needles;
  • hook;
  • a compiled knitting pattern.

Stages

First of all, be sure to knit a control sample. It will be possible to judge the density of the product and, if anything, change the pattern or threads.

  1. We calculate the number of loops that you need to dial. To do this, you need to know the OG. The sweater has approximately 88 loops.
  2. Be sure to start knitting a sweater with a collar. The loops are calculated as follows: from 88 pieces, you need to subtract 20 if the dog is a small breed and 30 if the pet is of medium or large size.
  3. We collect the required number of loops and knit with an elastic band measuring 1 * 1 cm for 4 cm.Or knit 1 cm more if the dog is larger.
  4. We divide the total number of loops into 5 equal parts. We knit the first two with an elastic band, the middle with the front satin stitch, the remaining two parts again with an elastic band.
  5. We knit in the same way, only with each row it is necessary to add the number of loops that will go to the dog's sternum. We knit in the same way.
  6. After about 7 cm, you need to make holes for the pet's paws.
  7. We knit a sweater for a dog to the end of the tummy. By the end of the sweater, it is imperative to make a narrowing so that the product does not stretch during wear.
  8. As soon as we have reached the end of the tummy, it is necessary to transfer all the loops to separate knitting needles and knit the back with the front satin stitch.
  9. Be sure to tie an elastic band around all the edges of the garment.
  10. After the entire sweater for the pet is knitted, we sew the parts together along the edge loops.

To make the product look interesting, you can take melange yarn into work, and highlight the collar and bottom of the product with contrasting threads. More finished products can be viewed in the photo.

Alternative to knitting

Not every needlewoman knows how to knit. Some housewives can delight their pets with hand-sewn things. To do this, you can purchase new fabric, but you can sew clothes from the old wardrobe. Let's consider how to make an original thing for a dog in a few minutes.

Jacket made of socks

Now outlandish things that can be sewn from an old sock are in vogue. Yes, exactly of them. For work, prepare the following tools and materials:

  • a lot of old socks;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • crochet hook of the largest size;
  • a needle with threads in the color of the socks.

If your pet weighs about 10 kg, then approximately 35 socks will be needed for work.

The work is carried out in the following way:

  1. Before we sew the original thing, we wash and dry all the socks. Sort by color if you want to somehow compose the overall pattern. If this is not done, then the product will not lose its charm.
  2. To sew a jacket, each sock needs to be cut. To do this, each product is leveled and cut into strips. The width of each is 2-3 cm. Each part should look like a solid loop.
  3. We begin to weave the pieces to make the yarn from the socks. To do this, one ring is threaded through the other.
  4. Let's start knitting. We take big hook and we begin to knit with regular knit. All parts of the product are prepared separately, and then they must be sewn together with ordinary threads.

Like this in a simple way You can dress your pet in original clothes of your own production.

Video "How to knit a sweater for a dog"

The video explains in detail how to crochet a sweater for a small breed dog.

Sorry, there are currently no polls available.

If you decide to have a Chihuahua pet, then in addition to worrying about its maintenance, you should think about your baby's wardrobe. Of course, you can buy fashion items in the store, but it's cheaper to make them yourself, and you are guaranteed exclusivity. In the article, we will offer patterns for knitted clothes for the Chihuahua.

Knitted clothes for small dogs have a number of advantages:

  • it is simple and convenient;
  • it can be worn at any time of the year;
  • in winter, knitted things perfectly protect from the cold, besides, they have good ventilation;
  • they are elastic, easy to put on and create comfort when wearing, take the shape of the pet's body;
  • knitted clothes are seamless, so tangling and chafing are excluded.

Among the negative aspects is the fact that knitted clothes cannot be cleaned, but should be washed. During washing, wool clothes can "shrink", and if the composition contains a lot of acrylic, then, on the contrary, stretch out.

Variety of warm clothes

Given the characteristics of the breed, the set of things for your pet will be solid. For Chihuahuas, clothing is a must, as it protects the dog from the cold and wind. Even if it gets a little colder outside, your four-legged friend will need a jumpsuit that will not get wet in rainy weather. This type of clothing is very popular for miniature pets, as it is comfortable and practical.

You can make a windbreaker or raincoat with your own hands, and when the cold comes, you can wear warm knitted clothes (for example, a sweater or pullover).

When you are replenishing your pet's wardrobe, regardless of whether you buy things at a pet store or knit with your own hands, they should be not only warm, but also as comfortable as possible for the animal so as not to restrict the pet in movements.

If the boy's blouse is open on the tummy, then clothes are selected for the girl that completely covers this area. It is also worth taking care of shoes so that the Chihuahua does not hurt his paws while walking.

The choice of materials and tools for work

In order to knit cute and bright clothes for your pet, you should first choose a yarn. It shouldn't be allergic, but warm and natural. Thick and fluffy threads are best. In the store you can buy cotton yarn, mohair, linen threads. Wool with the addition of acrylic is also suitable to increase the wear life. Also, clean wool will prick, may cause allergies. As we noted above, the yarn should be natural, since artificial yarn will be absolutely useless in cold weather, because it will not warm the dog.

Pure viscose is also not a very good option, as things will stretch and quickly lose their shape. Pure acrylic threads build up static electricity... Often very bright threads have an odor, which indicates that unsafe technologies were used during staining. So this yarn should not be bought, as the four-legged friend may have an allergic reaction and other health problems.

If you decide to knit clothes for your pet, then you should choose the right size knitting needles or a crochet hook. You can also crochet parts so that there are no seams, or make a beautiful finish.

Detailed manufacturing instructions

Sweaters

Let's talk about how to knit a warm and comfortable Chihuahua sweater with knitting needles.

First of all, we take a chihuahua and take measurements from it: the neck circumference in the place where the collar is located, the volume of the chest (behind the front limbs), the length of the back from the collar to the tail, as well as the circumference of the limbs. We choose soft, thornless threads. The thickness of the needles should correspond to the thickness of the threads - the thinner the yarn, the thinner the needles should be.

On average, we need 250 g of yarn. It is necessary to calculate the knitting density by tying a small sample and counting how many loops are contained in one centimeter. Now we have all the information to calculate the number of loops to set.

We start knitting for chihuahua with a set of loops. Next, two rows should be knitted with garter stitch. After that, we knit 20 rows with an elastic band 1: 1. Now let's get down to facial surface... Each row must be knitted, stepping back from the edge of 3 loops.

Next, add one stitch in each row, and so we knit 15 rows. From the elastic to the armhole, you need to knit 28 rows. We proceed to knitting the armhole. To do this, we knit 10 breast loops. Next, close 12, then knit on the back 30, and again close 12, then knit 10 on the breast. In those places where 12 loops were closed, there will be bases for the armhole.

The next stage is to increase each section by one row. Next, we knit all the loops, so the armhole is gradually restored. Calculate: if you have 72 rows from the elastic, then go to the elastic. After knitting 4 rows, you can finish.

If the sweater is with sleeves, then they are knitted with special knitting needles for stockings. Process scheme: we collect 28 loops and knit round 18 rows, forming an elastic band. We close the edge of the product. Now we sew the jacket (you can connect it with a hook).

Overalls

Here is a description of how to knit a jumpsuit for a Chihuahua.

We collect 48 loops and knit a 1x1 elastic band 5 cm high.Now you need to break 48 loops into the back, sleeves and tummy. The back will be 14 loops, then from each side there will be one elongated loop, then we leave 11 loops on the sleeves, then again one stretched on each side and 4 loops on the tummy, including the hem.

We knit one row to elongated loops, and after we will increase the number of loops - before dividing we make a yarn and after. Thus, they will be separative. We add loops only from the front side. After we have made all the increments, we get 15 loops on the front shelf, the sleeves - 33, the back - 36.

We collect the sleeves on a wire and then continue knitting with one cloth to the required length. After that, close 10 loops on each side. Next, we knit the canvas. The two corners on the sides will turn into pant legs. To do this, we type the loops around the corner again on the knitting needles, we get 19 and also make 19 yarns. Thus, we get 38 loops and knit in a circle.

We do the same with the second leg. At the end of the leg, you can change the thread to a thinner one and knit with an elastic band, getting a cuff that can be tucked in. Next, we sew the finished product, insert a lock or buttons if desired.

Sleeveless

In order to knit a chihuahua sleeveless jacket, you need 100 g of yarn. You already know how to take measurements. We begin to knit from the bottom, we calculate the knitting density and the number of loops that need to be dialed. We collect the calculated number of loops and knit with an elastic band to the armhole. After that all knitted fabric we divide into three parts: the left shelf, then close the loops of the left armhole, the back, close the loops of the right armhole and the right shelf. We knit each part separately to the desired height, after which we unite the fabric again, typing the same number of additional loops over the closed loops.

Next, we continue to knit with the main pattern, reducing the amount on the sides. We close and sew the product at the desired height, or insert a lock or buttons. If desired knitted product can be decorated with accessories of your choice.

With the advent of cold weather, knitted clothes for dogs are becoming very popular. Allowing to provide comfort and warmth to the pet during walks, sweaters, hats, boots serve as an ornament for the dog and a source of pride for the owner. Especially if knitted sweater for a dog with knitting needles made with my own hands... We suggest you take care of your pets and knit a warm, cozy and beautiful sweater.

Description of knitting a sweater for a dog

Along the length of the product in the knitting process, we alternate color stripes: 2p. one color, 4p. - another.
We start knitting a sweater with a set melange yarn 52p. We switch to circular knitting and cut 2l.x2i. by 13cm.

Further distribution of the loops is as follows: 14p. - before, 1p. - ragged line (put M), 7p. - sleeve, 1p. - ragged line (put M), 20p. - back, 1p. - ragged line (put M), 7p. - sleeve, 1p. - ragged line (put M).

We go to the main pattern, making increments of 1p in even rows. on both sides of each M. Having knitted 3cm, remove the sleeve loops on a pin, and tie the front and back up to 10cm.

Then 18p. from the front close. The rest - we knit in straight / reverse rows for another 10 cm. Then all items are closed. Crochet the edge of the dog's sweater with single crochet stitches.

We transfer the loops of the sleeves to the joint venture. and knit faces with chocolate yarn. ch. round by 6 cm, then another 3 cm with an elastic band 1 l.x1i.

Selection of schemes

In the cold season, you need to take care of your pets just as much as you do yourself. Dog breeders know that walking with four-legged animals in the fall or winter can be problematic due to the fact that the animal quickly freezes. At the same time, sometimes it is not so easy to find clothes for your pet by size. To make the sweater fit the dog, you can knit it yourself on the knitting needles using simple patterns for beginners.

Required tools and materials

Before you start knitting, you need to make sure you have materials and tools.

To knit a sweater for a dog you will need:

  • measuring tape;
  • scissors;
  • yarn (50-200 g);
  • knitting needles;
  • circular knitting needles.

For each pattern and style of sweater, you should choose the right yarn. When choosing it, you need to take into account the weight and basic parameters of the dog. The sweater should not be narrow or, conversely, wide. Otherwise, it will interfere with the movement of the animal.

Sweater patterns

There are many different patterns for knitting a pet sweater. However, not all of them are suitable for beginners, so here are the most understandable schemes:

  • A simple classic sweater.

    For knitting a sweater, melange or sectionally dyed yarn is suitable.

  • Sweater with a pattern.

    To make the sweater more interesting, you can knit it from yarn of 2 colors: knit the collar and the final strapping with a contrasting thread.

  • It is worth considering the density of the loops so that they are not too loose or too tight.

All of the above schemes are quite simple if you know the knitting technology of an ordinary classic sweater.

How to knit a sweater for a dog: step by step instructions

It is important to choose the knitting pattern that suits the parameters of the animal

It is better to take as an example simple scheme... The main steps for knitting a sweater for a dog:

  1. Taking measurements. Given the fact that the pet is unlikely to sit quietly during the measurement, you need to make an amendment for a couple of centimeters:
  2. Neck. We start knitting a sweater from the neck. We calculate the number of loops based on the OSH measurement. In our example, the loops turned out to be 64. We distribute them on four knitting needles and knit with an elastic band 2x2 15 rows. Less or more to make a lapel.

    The smaller the dog, the more the sweater should perform its function - to warm, so the collar can be higher, and the sleeves and the sweater itself - longer

  3. Raglan. Divide the number of elastic loops by 3 and distribute the resulting amount between the back, chest and legs. Example: 64: 3 ≈ 22. The back of the dog is wider than the chest, so we assign 25 loops to this part, 19 to the chest, and 20 to the legs (10 per leg). After distributing the loops, we put markers or knit threads of a contrasting color. Next, we need to make an extension of the sweater, or raglan. For this we will make yarn overs. When there are 2 buttonholes left before the first marker, we make a yarn, then we knit two purl, throw over the marker, again two purl and again a yarn. And so with each marker. The product will expand. We begin to knit the heart according to the pattern, which can be positioned in the center, or can be shifted to either side.

    In the diagram, the heart is inverted for our convenience, since we knit from above

  4. Sleeves. We calculate the number of loops for this part according to the OL's measurement and check the breast size according to the SHG measurement. We transfer the eyelets of the sleeve to another knitting needle and leave it for now. In the meantime, we continue knitting in a circle. We cast on the working needle from 5 to 10 loops, so that there is no too tight fit of the sleeve. We close the circle and continue knitting.

    At this stage, you can try on the product for a dog, so that it becomes clear how it sits in the shoulders and that it is time to leave room for the sleeves.

  5. Body. On the back we will perform one more jacquard pattern- two hearts. You can choose any location and size of the picture. Having finished knitting the pattern, we continue knitting in a circle. The length of the product must be chosen based on the size of the dog, but the length along the tummy should be shorter than the length of the back. Having decided on the length, we continue knitting with a 2x2 elastic band. After knitting about 7 rows of elastic, close only the tummy area. The next step is to close the loops on the back. We transfer knitting to one knitting needle and knit the front and back rows, knitting 3 loops together at the beginning and end of each row. This will gently round the back.

    If suddenly your dog is completely tiny and such a pattern simply does not fit on its back, you can knit one heart from this or the previous pattern

  6. Sleeves again. We return to the legs. We put on the needles those 5-10 loops that we planned for a free fit, and knit the sleeves in a circle with an elastic band 2x2 10 rows or more. The sweater is ready!

Clothing for small dogs is not an attractive attribute, but a necessity. A bald or decorative dog will freeze in cool weather, and the desire to walk with it longer will not help in achieving goals. Today you can find many types of clothes for a small dog - overalls, blankets and others. They are all expensive, and sellers are not always allowed to try on the intended purchase. I bring to your attention a knitted sweater for a dog with knitting needles, which will delight the pet and save the family budget.

We knit for dogs of small breeds: why?

Knitting dog clothes has the following benefits:

  • knitted items are fashionable, stylish and creative;
  • the opportunity to save on expensive brands;
  • the hostess herself "selects" the size for her pet;
  • only one skein of yarn is required for the whole thing, even if a sweater is crocheted for a large pet;
  • a sweater with knitting needles for animals can also be loosened and tied into the most interesting model.

Regardless a large number advantages, it is required to present disadvantages - the possible stretching of the knitted thing, as well as the formation of pellets on the product. Both disadvantages are manifested by the fact that only natural woolen thread is used. To get rid of the presented problems, it is recommended to knit clothes made of acrylic, a mixture of wool and acrylic (in this case, it is not necessary to maintain a 50/50 proportion).

Dog jacket

For small dogs - I have a Pekingese - knitting will bring pleasure due to its simplicity and quick results. A master class on knitting a blouse for dogs using knitting needles requires the use of the following materials and tools:

  • acrylic or semi-woolen yarn - no more than 1 skein;
  • knitting needles of the appropriate size;
  • circular knitting needles;
  • stitching needle.

You can knit a sweater for a dog in the following sequence:

  1. First you need to decide on the density of knitting - ready-made clothes for the dog can be used in the future as a pattern. If it is not there, then we are taking measurements of the pet first - use the following schemes. As soon as the measurements are made, you can start knitting the sample. To do this, dial 20-30 loops on the needles with the selected yarn and knit at least 7 cm in height.It is better to wash and iron the finished sample so that the yarn shrinks - this is necessary for a better calculation of the loops.
  2. Knitting for pets involves the following calculation of loops - it is necessary to measure the width of the sample after preliminary processing and divide the number of loops by the obtained value. The calculated number of loops per cm of measured value is then obtained. They act in a similar way with the calculation of the rows - the number of rows is divided by the measurement of the height. Having decided on the calculations, you can independently calculate the number of dialed loops for knitting the main fabric.
  3. So, in my case, the girth of the pet is 37 cm.The calculated number of loops per 1 cm is 2.5. It follows that 92.5 stitches must be cast on the main fabric - we round up to 100 for the next seam and edge loops, as well as for a more free donning.
  4. Having typed 100 loops on the needles, we knit 13 rows with an elastic band - this is 4 cm in height. In total, I need to knit 14 cm to the paws.You can knit more, especially if you have a girl - due to physiological characteristics they need to cover the abdomen as much as possible. In my situation, a sweater is just an attractive accessory, because despite the coat, the pet is constantly freezing. Even in overalls based on padding polyester, we do not go out for a walk at -15 degrees below zero.
  5. Next, we move on to the main pattern - garter stitch. The knitting pattern is simple - we knit all the loops with the front ones. We knit 10 cm to the slots for the legs - 40 rows are obtained.
  6. Then the loops are divided into front, back and sleeves. Considering that there is only 10 cm between the paws in the chest area of my dog, it means that the separation of the loops occurs in the sequence: 13-20-34-20-13. 13 pieces are one half of the front, 20 are for closure to form holes for the paws, the remaining 34 are the back of the product.
  7. It turns out that you need to knit in the sequence: 13 loops with the front (12 loops and 1 hem), close 20 in the standard way, 34 with the front, close 20 and the remaining 13.
  8. Next, turn the work and knit a row of knitting stitches - 13 loops, dial 20 loops per knitting needle, 34 knitting stitches, again dial 20 loops per knitting needle, 13 loops.
  9. Continue knitting with a garter stitch - 3 rows are enough for me. If a sweater for that terrier is knitted, the height must be knitted more - at least 10 rows without the subsequent elastic neckline.
  10. After that, the loops are closed and the assembly of the product begins - the resulting seam is sewn with a needle and yarn for knitting.
  11. Then on circular knitting needles dial 42 loops from the edge of the holes for the legs - you get 20 closed and after dialed and 1 loop from the sides of the slot to form a rounding.
  12. Knit a cuff for the legs in 10 rows with an elastic band 1 * 1. The second cuff for the second sleeve is knitted in the same way.
  13. Cast on circular knitting needles 100 stitches for the neckline and knit 10 rows. If you knit a product for a Chihuahua with your own hands, you can double the number of rows - their necks are longer than those of the Pekingese.
  14. Ready product wash in cool water and dry unfolded.
  15. Put on your pet and admire the work that novice craftswomen can easily cope with.

A detailed description is presented with a photo, which greatly simplifies the whole process. You can consider knitting a sweater with a description where raglan is involved, but this is suitable for advanced knitters as the calculations are easy to get confused.

A dog sweater is attractive, stylish, fashionable and versatile as it is great for both boys and girls. You should not postpone intentions until later - get to work and please your beloved pets with new things.
