How to make a small newspaper basket. Weaving from newspaper tubes - interesting DIY crafts

Wickerwork will never go out of style. Beautiful baskets will help to decorate your home and put it in order, because you can put anything in them. If you want to master weaving paper baskets, for beginners in this article three master classes will be provided with various technicians their manufacture.

A little about weaving

Weaving is one of the oldest types of needlework. Household items made in this way have been found in excavations around the world. People used materials given to them by nature to make various baskets, cups, furniture. Even the walls of houses were woven from branches and coated with clay for strength. Small toys made for children with their own hands had a sacred meaning. People weaved a piece of their soul, which protected the owner from evil spirits and diseases. For this technique we took natural material- reed, vine, rattan, corn leaves. Over time, new materials began to appear and the weaving changed. Not so long ago, the vine was replaced by paper weaving. Due to the cheapness of the material and its rather simple preparation for work, this type of weaving has received universal recognition. Even a novice craftsman can create a paper basket with his own hands. And there will definitely be a use for it.

Small basket

Small baskets can be used to store small things, they will help to put things in order in the house. Or create a small flower arrangement that will brighten the interior.

A master class will help you create such a craft. To make a basket you will need:

  • Cardboard sheet;
  • Corrugated paper;
  • Compass;
  • Scissors;
  • Matches;
  • Glue gun.

Have corrugated paper there are advantages and disadvantages. Its main good quality is plasticity, it stretches very easily. But the disadvantage is that it fades over time. Plus, the bright paper will accurately color your fingers as you work. So take care of your hand protection by applying a special cream or wearing gloves.

First, cut the paper into long strips, about two centimeters wide. Carefully so as not to tear it, twist the strips with your fingers. The process is similar to spinning threads.

For the bottom of this craft, cardboard is used, and matches for the supporting pegs on which weaving is performed. Draw two circles on the cardboard with a radius of 4 and 5 cm. The bottom template is ready.

Cut in a wide circle. In the distance between the large and small circles, you need to strengthen the matches, pre-puncturing small holes at a distance of 1 cm. If you made wide holes, additionally put the matches on hot glue for strength. It should look like this.

Tie the prepared corrugated paper “threads” in a knot and put them on the first matchstick. Start braiding the basket, tracing the posts with a pigtail. Any kind of weaving can be used.

To finish the product, you need to hide the ponytails inside the weave. Use a crochet hook. Pull the thread through the top few rows, cut and glue with a glue gun.

Do not use PVA glue for this work, as the paper is very thin and will simply creep away from the liquid glue.

Make a pen by braiding the strings of paper. Hide the ponytails inside and glue it. The basket is ready! You can decorate it with flowers as in the photo.

Paper strip product

The technique for making such a craft is also quite simple. Using colored office paper will save you the dyeing process finished product... Just pick your favorite colors and start creating.

To create a paper basket, take:

  • Colored paper for office equipment;
  • Scissors;
  • Paper clips.

This craft is made using the checkerboard weaving method. Prepare strips of paper 2 cm wide. Take as many horizontal strips as necessary to get the bottom of the desired width. Weave vertical stripes into them in a checkerboard pattern. How to do it can be seen in the photo.

When the bottom is ready, you need to lift the remaining strips up and strengthen the initial weave strip.

Continue weaving in a checkerboard pattern until the desired size is obtained. Bend the remaining tails inward and fix with glue.

All that remains is to attach a handle and the craft is ready.

From paper tubes

Weaving various products from paper tubes is a very exciting experience. And it will bring a lot of benefits. Because of this simple material you can create a flower basket or a huge laundry basket. With just a little practice, you will definitely succeed. Especially this type of weaving was chosen by the masters of suite design. Wicker containers are often required to decorate sweet compositions. Their cost in stores is quite high, so needlewomen prefer to weave them themselves. This master class will be about how to weave such a product.

First you need to prepare paper tubes... It is best to make them out of newsprint. You can clearly see the process of their manufacture and coloring in the video tutorial.

To make a basket from a paper vine, take:

  • Corrugated cardboard;
  • Newspaper tubes;
  • Clothespins;
  • Scissors;
  • PVA glue;
  • A small container that you will braid (bowl, glass, box).

Cut out the bottom of the future basket from cardboard. Attach the tube racks to it with glue. Further, the whole process of weaving is shown step by step in the photo.

The basket lid is done in the same way. Just take measurements off the top edge of the product and add a little extra. You can leave the basket without a handle, it looks very original.

The article will tell you how to weave beautiful baskets from simple newspaper tubes and will present you with detailed master classes.

Weaving from newspaper tubes is a very unusual, but very popular needlework that almost anyone can do. In addition, this handicraft is not costly, because it does not require purchasing material. Any product woven in this way is made of ordinary newspapers, rolled into a thin tube and fixed with varnish.

What is required for such work:

  • Form - any subject square shape, which will allow the product to have a given silhouette: vase, box, can, box, toy, and so on. Choose the item that suits you in size.
  • Newspapers - any newspaper sheets, double is desirable.
  • Clothespins - ordinary or stationery, needed to fix it while weaving a basket.
  • Scissors - for work
  • Glue - dry or PVA for fixing and twisting the tubes.
  • Decorative materials - to design the finished product.
  • Long wooden skewer - necessary for curling a newspaper sheet.
  • Cardboard - necessary to create the bottom of the product

How to weave a basket:

  • Flatten the newspaper sheet
  • Take a skewer and line it to the edge of the newspaper sheet.
  • Fold the newspaper sheet and begin curling, folding the sheet tightly.
  • Newsprint should be greased with glue so that it folds and fixes.
  • If you used PVA, let the twisted tubes dry a little.
  • Cut out the base for the basket, square: large or small.
  • Glue the tubes to the base and fix with clothespins, let dry completely.
  • Remove the clothespins and glue the second square (exactly the same), press and fix. Let dry.
  • Lay the shape over the bottom and begin weaving, tying each vertical tube with a horizontal one.
  • Weaving looks very solid, because you should not weave several tubes. Each time you glue several tubes into one long strip, which you work with.
  • Press the ends of the protruding tubes to the shape with clothespins
  • During weaving, it is necessary to use patterns to create a pattern and carefully weave the edges of the tubes inside.

Weaving an Easter basket from newspaper tubes: patterns, patterns, description

You don't have to buy a beautiful Easter basket, you can weave it yourself from the material at hand - newspaper tubes. These baskets can be filled with Easter treats and presented to your loved ones. Depending on how many treats you want to put inside or how skillful you are, there are several schemes and ways to make such a product.

IMPORTANT: Weaving is similar to the previous lessons, however, to create such a basket, you should not use cardboard for the bottom, but a round shape (dish or deep plate), which you will tie around.

In order to create a small basket with a handle, you will need about 90-100 tubes, which should be rolled up in advance. Let the straws dry and only then get to work:

  • Weave 8 tubes together with a double cross
  • Start around tying to make the base
  • Place the base shape over the knitted small round bottom.
  • Tie it around, lengthening the tubes and creating patterns (for this you should use weaving patterns).
  • To make the product neat and even, you should fix the tubes vertically, pinching them with clothespins to the edge of the mold.
  • The handle for the basket is knitted separately according to the type of braiding from several tubes at once (see photo).

Weaving from newspaper tubes of an oval basket: photo, description

An oval basket, woven from ordinary newspaper tubes, can serve as a wonderful piece of furniture and a dish for some food products, for example, sweets, fruits or bread. It is not difficult to make such a product, and upon completion of the work, you can paint it in any color and even open it with varnish. Such a coating will give the basket strength and moisture resistance.

By its principle, weaving an oval basket is similar to other products (square and rectangular, ordinary baskets), but in this case, special attention should be paid to creating the bottom. Of course, you can use a cardboard base, or you can weave it by hand, which is much more beautiful.

How to weave an oval basket:

In order to make the base, several tubes should be twisted together.

You can fasten the tubes together by tying them together

After the base is done, start weaving in the usual way.

When you tie the required bottom diameter, wrap and lift the tubes up

Fix the tubes with clothespins and continue weaving.

Video: "An unusual basket of newspaper tubes"

Earlier in the villages weaving baskets, boxes, various products was a widespread occupation. We did this mainly on long winter evenings. The material for weaving was a vine. You might think that this hobby has sunk into oblivion and only a few are engaged in it, but this is not so. Now you can find craftswomen making beautiful decorative wickerwork from newspapers. Mastering weaving from newspaper tubes step by step for beginners, carefully following the instructions, you can learn this needlework.

The material for needlewomen is not a vine, due to its inaccessibility, and the tubes from the newspaper... Products made from such raw materials are outwardly almost identical to the products we are used to from vine or straw. After processing, they are durable, practical and beautiful.

This is not only exciting, but also useful in everyday life, since the products can be both decorative and used in the household. This type of creativity does not require any financial investment or special training, and the result often justifies the time spent.

Tubes for weaving are twisted from newspapers, magazines, paper for checks, etc. The material is very budgetary, and maybe even free. For example, free newspapers are thrown into mailboxes, distributed near the metro or inside the metro.

Material preparation

The newspaper is divided into several pages in the direction of the text with a thickness of 7-8 cm, cut and using fine knitting needles, starting from the corner, twist into a tube. The needle is taken from 2.5 to 3.5 mm. These are standard recommendations, you can, of course, try other options. The thickness and length of the tube depends on the twist angle. The shallower the angle of application of the knitting needle to the corner of the paper, the thinner and longer the tube will be.

At the end of the twist, it is fixed with a drop of PVA glue or pencil glue. The disadvantage of fixing with PVA glue is that when the tubes are painted, the gluing place is not stained. Since this segment is on the edge, some of it is cut off in the process.

An important nuance: if you twist the tubes from the newspaper, then from the extreme strips, where the white canvas of the newspaper runs without text, you get clean white tubes without a font. It should also be taken into account that the fingers from the newspaper quickly get dirty from the printing ink. You should periodically wipe them with a napkin so that there are no stains on the white tubes.

Straw processing

Weave from paper vine you can directly after twisting, or you can carry out additional processing, that is:

Weaving types

When making products, the paper vine is lengthened by inserting one tube into another. The fact is that during the twisting process, one end turns out to be thicker than the opposite, and it is not difficult to connect them. You can use a drop of glue, but many do without it. If the tip is too soft, you can trim it slightly for easy connection.

There are several types of weaving baskets from newspaper tubes., and they are similar to weaving from natural vine:

It is recommended to start weaving from a vine with the simplest and most versatile "string" weaving. It is more durable than plain weave and looks prettier. Besides using different techniques this type of needlework, you can create patterns by skipping rows or creating holes in the work. Using different colors tubes and alternating them, you can create your own unique patterns and combinations.

Type of weaving from a newspaper vine "rope"

Before you make a paper basket with your own hands, you first need to decide on the shape of the product. It can be any: round, square, oval or others geometric shapes... It is better to choose a layout, along the contours of which you will work. You put it on the bottom of the basket and braid it. This contributes to an even and comfortable weaving, helps to avoid distortions and deviations from the chosen shape. The models are usually shoe boxes, dishes, existing boxes, etc. Unusual shapes, for example, a heart, you can make yourself from cardboard.

Making a basket begins from the bottom, it can also be woven from a vine, or it can be made from thick cardboard. Two cartons are cut out in the shape of the bottom, pasted over with the remnants of wallpaper, decorative paper, a thin cloth, depending on the idea. Tubes are glued to one part along the perimeter at the same distance, they are closed from above with another part with glue, everything is carefully pressed and left overnight under oppression.

Bending the edge of the product

When you have completed the work of the desired height, the need for processing the edge of the product how to finish the craft. For this, the tubes are bent in a special way. There are several types of hem bending: simple, voluminous, complex, pigtail, etc. Finishing bending patterns are as varied as the types of main weaving. You can use some racks for bending, or create a more decorative look by introducing additional tubes.

For the convenience of processing the edge of the rack, you need to shorten it with scissors. After folding, they are glued. After the glue dries, cut off the remaining tips. If necessary, you can add handles to the basket or make a lid.

Final processing

Here at this point you can show all your imagination... To begin with, you should cover the product with a primer along with PVA glue or only glue diluted with water. This is done to obtain greater strength and rigidity of the basket. When the composition dries a little, the craft can be straightened a little in shape and left to dry further. Then the basket can be made in color, decoupage, decorated with ribbons, sticky decorative elements, etc. The final stage will cover your creation with acrylic varnish with a glossy or matte effect. This varnish is very comfortable, odorless, easy to apply, dries quickly.

You can create unique things without spending a lot of money. A striking example of this is weaving from newspaper tubes. Of course, it will take a lot of time. But, in addition to the satisfaction and joy of creativity, you will become the owners of original and beautiful crafts... The problem with gifts will be solved - you can make them with your own hands.

Preparing the tubules

Before starting weaving, you need to prepare the starting material - wind tubes from newspapers or magazines. You will need the paper itself, PVA glue in a bottle with a dispenser, a long pushing needle, or a piece of stiff wire. The diameter of the spoke / wire is 1.5-2 mm. These are all preparatory tools.

Lots of ideas - lots of stuff!

Twist

To make the straws, you must first cut the paper into pieces of the desired size. Cut newspaper strips or magazine spreads into several parts. The aspect ratio is 1: 3 or 1: 4 (for example, 27 * 9 cm, 35 * 10 cm). The exact dimensions are not important. Divide the page into multiple sections so that they are roughly the aspect ratio shown above.

We take a knitting needle and a paper strip. We twist the corner of the paper around the knitting needle, gradually, layer by layer, roll up the tube. Fix the edge of the strip with a drop of glue. To make the tube of the desired density, lay the paper at 45 ° in relation to the needle. Then it will be tight enough, but at the same time it will bend well.

We take out the knitting needle. The tube is not too long, you have to splicate them to work. If everything is done correctly, one of its edges turned out to be thin, the other - thick and hollow from the inside. To connect two newspaper tubes, drip a few drops of PVA glue into the thick part, insert the second tube with a thin edge. Now we wait until it dries.

Painting and other processing methods

Sometimes, for more simple weaving, the tubes are rolled using a conventional rolling pin. They become flatter. In this form, it is easier to work with them - to stretch between the rows. But this is an optional step. Try "rolling", maybe you will like the weaving from newspaper tubes more in this form.

Not everyone likes natural look»Weaving from newsprint. To improve the appearance, the twisted tubes are dyed. Acrylic paint is best suited for this. It fits snugly, behaves well with any type of paper, does not flow, dries quickly and is odorless. A water-resistant, moisture-resistant stain is also suitable. Paper tubes coated with acrylic varnish, to which a coloring pigment is immediately added, look good. Simultaneously with painting, they become less sensitive to moisture.

Painting each tube with a brush is long and dreary, so they are looking for a long tray in which the tubes are stacked. Paint is poured into it, ready-made newspaper tubes are dipped into it. Then they are laid out on a polyethylene layer to dry.

Before weaving, so that the "newspaper vine" bends well, you can moisten it. It is better and easier to do this from a spray bottle, simply by spraying water.

The beginning of weaving - we form the bottom

In most products, you first need to form the bottom. There are two options: make it out of cardboard, gluing the racks to the edges. The option is simple and straightforward. Perhaps for beginners it is better - weaving the walls is a little easier than shaping the bottom. And so that the ends of the glued racks do not "scratch" the eyes, they are covered with a second piece of cardboard of the same type.

Of the features: in the corners you need to glue a double number of tubes. One will be on one side, the other on the other. In addition to the above option, there is another way - to stick them not on the corner, but on both sides. In this case, the racks are located from the corner at a distance of no more than half a step (this is the distance at which you placed the other racks).

The second option is to weave the bottom out of newspaper tubes. You will need long tubes - spliced from two or three. There are many ways, they are taken mainly from weaving from a vine. The principle is one - the tubes, one by one or in groups, are intertwined with each other, forming a center. Then, using some of the lozenges, braid the base, adding dimension or rounded shape as needed.

Round bottom for large items

It will be a little easier if you cross several tubes stacked one to the other. In the photo (see below), they took five tubes, intertwined them relative to each other. To make the bottom less bulky, it must be crushed. The easiest way to do this is with a rolling pin or a bottle - rolling it several times. To make it easier to work further, we coat the intersections with PVA glue.

Next, we take a straw and start tying the bottom, passing the straw through three tubes (rope method). So - through three tubes - we make two rows. Then - several rows - after two. Several - this is for the bottom dimensions to be almost "right" - in shape.

Weave the last two or three rows through one tube. During weaving, it is necessary to part the base tubes at the same distance. So it is, in fact, it turns out, you just need to make sure that the distance is the same.

When switching to weaving the walls, we cross the base tubes one with the other. So the product is more stable and the transition is more reliable. For weaving the walls, you can use the working tubes that were used when weaving the bottom.

A simple version of the bottom made of newspaper tubes

Weaving from round bottom tubes can be started even easier. Such a bottom will not look so elegant, but for beginners, we advise you to try this method.

For a small product, take eight long tubes. We fold "cross to cross" by four. They can also be rolled with a rolling pin and glue the joint - there will be less problems at the start.

In the described variant, 15 racks are obtained (16-1). If you need more, either add as the bottom is weaved, or take a larger number in the source.

Photos and patterns of weaving the bottom of different shapes

As you gain experience, you will want to make products of other shapes - oval, rectangular, multifaceted. The section contains several diagrams showing how you can make forms more elegant and complex.

Weaving from newspaper tubes for walls

As soon as you start weaving products, the patterns will become clear to you. Having gained a little experience, you will learn how to restore the weaving method by looking at the photo. For beginners, we recommend starting with the most simple patterns... This is a string, and then a pigtail. It doesn't take long to master them.

Rope

To master the technique of weaving from newspaper tubes, you will need about five to seven racks. To begin with, you can fix several pieces of thick wire on some kind of support (a piece of dense foam, for example).

This is how weaving looks live on the "simulator"

  1. We take two tubes, put them between the two extreme racks crosswise. It turns out one tube lies in front of work, the other - behind.
  2. Holding the tubes at the intersection with one hand, we bend the other, bypassing the next rack. As a result, the tube that was in front turns out to be behind, the one that was in the back turns out to be in front.
  3. Bend over again, bypassing the next rack and so on until the end of the row.

That, in fact, is all - this is a method of weaving from newspaper tubes "string". Already using this technique, you can do the simplest things. The product is dense and durable. One important point: for this pattern to look normal, there must be an odd number of racks.

Changing the "starting" location of the tube, we get a different appearance pattern

If you want to complicate a little, you can take two tubes, go around two racks. But then you need to calculate the number of racks so that the second row is offset - then the pattern will turn out to be interesting. No less interesting are two strings directed to one another, rather than woven in one direction.

Chess

Checkerboard is another easy way to weave. To do this, you need to take two tubes, placing them one above the other.

This way you can weave a basket, tray and many other products. In terms of density, the product is not as strong as with the previous weave.

If you combine the described two methods, you get a rather interesting product. And if the transition is also decorated with a different color, it will be even nicer.

Completion of work

To make the product look neat, it is necessary, firstly, to remove the working tubes, and secondly, to somehow form the edge and do something with the racks.

We fix the working tubes

First you need to fix the working tubes. Usually they are hidden in weaving - in the closest binding. For this operation, you need a knitting needle or a long wooden skewer.

This is a simple and reliable way to secure the working tubes. Their ends are hidden in the weaving, while being securely fixed and clamped. For those who are just starting to master paper weaving, this is perhaps the best option.

Weaving the edge is the main technique

Then you can start closing the edge. There are many different ways- more or less difficult. The easiest is to do as with workers, but bend them inside the product. But then the edge is not very beautiful. If you want to make it more aesthetic, you can try the edge of the "rod". It is not too difficult for beginners to master, but it looks interesting.

To close the edge with a "rod", you need an auxiliary tube or you can take a skewer, knitting needle. With its help, we bend the first rack to the right, start it behind the next rack and bring it forward. Similarly, we bend to the right, start behind the next one and bring two more racks forward. In total, we have three bent.

Cut with nippers so that 8-9 mm of tubules remain behind the rack. To fix this trim, bend the first of the standing racks to the right, pressing the trimmed edge. Again we have three tubes in operation (bent). Again we take the left one and repeat everything again.

A side is gradually formed, which covers the top of the weave. We repeat all these steps until three racks remain: two bent and one stands. It is easy to track this moment, it is important not to miss it. Here you have to be careful. If everything is done correctly, it will be impossible to find the place where the work begins / ends.

Final chords

When three racks remain uncovered, make sure that the newspaper tubes are laid in the same sequence and in the same direction, so that they lay in the same way as before. We take out the auxiliary tube or skewer, with which we began to close the edge.

Again we take the leftmost tube, in front we bend around the last standing stand and further, according to the previous weaving algorithm, we need to wind it behind the next stand. This post is already folded and secured. This is the one with which they began to close the edge. We start the tube from behind, slip it under the first bent rack (more conveniently with a skewer) and stretch it forward, laying the tube like the others. We cut it off.

Now there are no standing racks, only three workers remained. They must be laid in the same way as those that are already fixed. We take the extreme left, it must be stretched under the third rack. Look carefully. This is the first post that does not have a cut tube near it. Stretching, stacking, trimming.

We stretch it under the third rack. If you look closely, this is the first one, under which there is no cut tube.

We lay the left tube along the top, covering the tubes that have just been laid. We start from the back, stretch it under the counter, in front of the laid tube.

Here we extend ...

We repeat the same operations with the next extreme left. It must be brought behind an "empty" rack, near which there is no cut tube. This counter is located to the right of the one we just worked with. Here you cannot do without a skewer - you need to slip a newspaper tube under two already laid ones (look at the photo).

We spread the tube on top, hiding the cut above. We start from the back, put it on a skewer and stretch it out. Holding it with your fingers, we shake it from side to side so that there is a place for it and it “lies down”. We cut it off.

It is also necessary to lay it correctly - repeating the same scheme as before

She remained a protruding newspaper tube. We start it at the third rack. It is not difficult to navigate: under the first two, the cuttings of the newly laid ones are already sticking out. We put the skewer under the laid turns, we bring it out near the bent rack.

With the help of a skewer, we bring the last stand out, lay it out so that it lies just like the others. Now you can trim it. The edge of the basket is ready and it is impossible to find where the row begins and where it ends.

Photo ideas for weaving from tubes

Novice craftsmen master weaving from newspaper tubes on simple crafts... With the acquisition of experience, I want to diversify products, use more complex patterns. In some cases, weaving that looks interesting in appearance is not necessarily complex. Such an example is in the next photo gallery. It contains step by step photos creating a checkerboard weaving.

Beginning - we braid two racks The number of turns - at your discretion It is more convenient if the tube "looks" to the right We finish the second row of checkerboard weaving, cut off the extra working tubes and fix their ends Leaving as many working tubes as needed

Your style is important in every home. For some, it is associated with rich decoration, for others - with a fantastic design of the future, but everyone will certainly agree that its main components are beauty, originality and accuracy.

A luxurious interior detail looks beautiful, expensive - neat, and an object "from the future" is very original, but, nevertheless, there is a thing that easily encompasses all these three qualities - this is the most ordinary basket of newspaper tubes.

Its simplicity is beautiful, originality is unique and accuracy is "beyond praise", and most importantly, it can be done without special labor, with my own hands and at home.

It is enough just to get acquainted with a small theory and go through a short master class on weaving such a basket with your own hands.

Basket of newspaper tubes

Material

He's already mentioned in the title, so let's talk about it briefly. The newspaper fits well: it is large, soft and pliable. The situation is worse with glossy magazines. It is difficult to work with them, as the material is too dense and tough. In this regard, the manufacture of the basket will be fraught with a number of unnecessary difficulties, and its accuracy may disappoint the "master".

However, plain office paper is considered one of the most suitable materials. It is denser than newspaper, but almost as soft and pliable. The product made of it will keep its shape better during work, and painting it is a pleasure at all.

But do not believe in this fact unconditionally - it is better to try both options and, with the necessary experience, choose your own.

Tool

To make a basket of newspaper tubes at home, you will need:

  • Newspapers / paper / multiple thick magazines (may be needed for basket racks)
  • Stationery knife / scissors
  • Knitting needles or any other sticks for winding the tubes
  • PVA glue
  • Form for weaving. A regular cardboard box is perfect for a start.
  • Clothespins
  • Thick cardboard (for making the bottom)
  • Paint (optional and to taste)

How to make a basket of newspaper tubes

Below will be presented the sequence of making the lightest basket with a ready-made, cardboard bottom and a simple weaving technique that anyone can handle.

Procurement of material

The first step is to "roll" the tubes themselves. They are very simple to do:

  • A standard “book” newspaper sheet is cut in half along the fold. Next, half of the newspaper is folded again along its length and cut again. This should create a long strip about 10 cm wide.
  • A knitting needle is applied to the very edge of this strip. Then a newspaper is very tightly wrapped around it.
  • At the end of this process, the remaining tip is glued with PVA glue.

This procedure is not difficult, but you will have to stand it many times, and with almost complete certainty we can say that at first it will not work perfectly.

Bottom blank

This will require thick cardboard and several dense tubes, which can just be (but not necessarily) made from glossy magazines. It is important that the cut-out bottom is exactly the same size as the bottom of the sample cardboard box. So, first thing:

  • Cut out two cartons to the exact size of the bottom of the box
  • We mark on one of the blanks the places where the rack tubes will be glued. Approximately every 3-4 cm.
  • We glue the tubes perpendicular to the cardboard: two at the desired marks and at the corners for greater strength - and fix them with clothespins.
  • Then, after drying, we glue the second part of the bottom on top in such a way as to press the ends of the tubes. We again fix the structure with clothespins (you can even press it on top with books or something heavy).

Thus, the bottom is ready. We turn directly to how to correctly make a basket from newspaper tubes, namely, to the weaving technique.

Weaving

Provided that all the previous steps were followed exactly, this step will not be difficult. First thing:

We insert the form into the workpiece. We bend the tubes along the edges and fix them with clothespins from above to the side of the box - this will make it easier to skip the tubes.

The first tube is glued to the corner of the workpiece (with inside so that its edge is not visible). Also, instead of one, you can take two at once - but for a start, it's better not to rush.

The tube is passed under the first pair of posts, then over the second, and so on. When the tube ends, you can insert another into it, or hide the tip and glue another. At the end of the circle, the tip is hidden inside the basket.

The next step is repeated in a mirror image - above the first and below the second - and so on when the desired height is reached. The weaving technique is the simplest. With experience, it will be possible to try more complex ones. To do this, it is better to first look at a photo of such baskets and the correct technique for weaving them from newspaper tubes.

Or a little more complicated: only one rack is cut off, the other clings to the next - in this way they all intertwine until all the ends are closed - then they are cut off and tucked in.

The product is ready. You can go on to painting and decorating it to get the most original basket of newspaper tubes.

Thus, if desired and due diligence, it will be possible to decorate your home in an original, beautiful and neat way in a completely unique style - the style of cozy charm, created with your own hands.
