Henna colors. Henna for hair: colors, dyeing rules, tips and tricks, photos

People ask me how I achieved a natural reddish tone and shine in my hair. The answer is simple - I paint with henna.

In the review I will tell you how I get a golden redhead without redness, does henna affect the quality of the hair, what color it turns out, is it possible to dye bleached hair with henna, how to wash off henna, how not to dry out the hair NS Noah Iranian natural "Artcolor ".

Basic information:

Henna ArtColor- Iranian henna, grinding not into dust, grains come across.

Bag weight: 25 g, for long hair you need 4-5.

Price: about 20 rubles

Where can I buy: in a supermarket like Auchan

Colour: marsh green

Smell: specific, stays on the hair for about a week.

Acquaintance with henna ArtColor ...

Acquaintance with henna began at school. What girl at 14 doesn't want to change her hair color? And I had 2 of the most desirable hair colors - bluish black and fiery red. Even then, I realized that black would not suit me, and my hair simply would not stand any lightening manipulations, I followed in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother.

The older generation was all for it, my grandmother always looking at my stunted hairs wanted to strengthen them with something, and I boldly began to experiment. Then I came across a bag of this henna from the supermarket ...

With the help of henna, I did not want to get the Leela from the fifth element or the mahogany color, my experiments are reduced to achieving a natural and natural red color with a golden sheen.

Therefore, I will not tell you how to achieve the brightest possible tone with henna.

How do I prepare the henna mixture? Then I will go through the points

  1. We choose what we will dilute, I brew henna with chamomile broth.
  2. Do not boil henna with boiling water (about 80-90C)! The color will turn out to be rusty, but the henna should be warm when applied.
  3. Add lemon / oil / ether juice ...
  4. Let the henna brew, it changes color to brownish.
  5. We heat it in a water bath until it is tolerably warm.
  6. We apply quickly, henna is washed very badly, it is washed off the bathroom and the tiles are also not a fountain, if they dripped somewhere, wash immediately. Clothes - which is not a pity, a towel too.
  7. She wraps up the turban and holds it.

1. The most exciting question I had is what color will the hair be?

I had my own hair tone at the time of the start of dyeing somewhere 5 according to the table below. After painting, 5G turned out to be 5R. But I didn’t like this strong redness in tone, it was very old and did not fit well in color type, compliments came from the “granny's color” series.

Then I decided to explore ways to change the color using additives. There was skepticism, but it quickly disappeared! The tone of the additives changes a lot! With chamomile, the color began to come out approximately like 5B (according to the table, I focus more on the letter, and not the number, maybe 4ka).

How to change the hue that henna gives?

The method is simple - add something to the diluted henna or dilute henna with a decoction of something.

  • chamomile- gives hair a golden shine, removes redness
  • Coffee- more chocolate shade
  • Wine, beets- red tint.

Many variations can be found on the Internet and find your own version, I immediately began to use chamomile.

If you brew henna on chamomile broth, the color goes into a more golden and natural tone. I used to add lemon juice, it gives shine to the hair and henna does not need to be infused for so long, the pigment is released faster. Subsequently, the lemon juice was replaced with lemon ether.

2. 3. In hot, about 80C, I knead the henna broth and let it brew I am about 15 min. If you are going to dye the length it is better to add base oil, but without going too far, because it is better not to wash your head for 3 days, some add kefir, the risk of overdoing it with oiliness is less.

Esters are best added with a warm, but not hot, mixture. If you only paint the roots, you can add tea tree, rosemary, mint - refreshes the scalp.

4. 5. Infusion time everyone chooses for himself, more than an hour standing henna paints more than freshly brewed, I do not strive for a bright color, I insist min 15.

Henna needs to be warmed up before application, I warm it until it is pleasant to the skin.

6. Henna paints everything around!

For ease of application, dilute the consistency of fat sour cream, too dry mixture lays down unevenly, too liquid flows.

To paint your head, you need to carefully prepare: remove all rugs from the bathroom floor, I pour water into the sink, if the pieces fall, they fall into the water and do not stain the sink. I wash off with plenty of water. You cannot leave a fallen piece on the plumbing; it is better to immediately distract from the process and wipe it off.

Henna also stains the scalp before the first wash, you can protect your head with a cream, but I just quickly wipe off the excess.

7. How long to keep?

Depends on the initial tone and the desired result, the darker the hair, the longer it takes to keep the mass on the hair.

My hair, when it was the 5th tone, acquired a noticeable shine in an hour, it did not hold it anymore, because it’s tiring, as you don’t wrap yourself up, it still leaks or falls off, and it’s hard to hold your head)

The color did not change at all, an interesting reflection appeared in the sun or in the light of lamps, the color looked richer than its own.

When the tone dropped to 7(medium blond) I hold henna no more than 5 minutes, this is quite enough to get a completely natural shade.

I would advise you to THINK very MANY times blondes, before dyeing their hair with henna, on very light hair, you get a vigorous carrot, which will be very difficult to remove ... For my taste, the most beautiful color comes out on dark blond hair.

If you are a dark brown-haired woman there is nothing to be afraid of, most likely no one will notice the result of your painting (if they did not hold it for long), only a beautiful reflection in the sun will appear.

Is henna good for hair?

This is purely my IMHO.

For hair - no, for scalp yes!

Henna very well relieves dandruff, itching, a feeling of staleness of the head, the scalp does not experience any discomfort during coloring, the warm mask is very pleasant, with frequent hair coloring it seems to grow a little faster and stronger, and also no problems with the scalp arise ...

Henna hair dries, after her they are hard and straw, it is felt that the scales are all revealed. Therefore, I painted the length after lightening only once, I touch the roots once a month.

How to soften negative impact henna on the hair?

Pour oil into the mixture, but do not overdo it so that you do not have to wash your hair.

After using an acidic balm that closes the scales, you can use a mask, but then the color will be washed off more. You can rinse your hair with a solution of apple cider vinegar.

Does henna paint over gray hair?

I have a little gray hair, henna lays down on it like a bright carrot, which is natural, so you have to think about gray hair and most likely mix it with basma.

How to wash off henna?

If you want the most vivid color, then for the first 3 days I don’t wash my head, if on the contrary, then mine, but you will not be able to remove the color to the end anyway.

I painted the length 2 years ago, did not touch it anymore, during this time there were countless masks, bathing, and the color is red ... Therefore, think in advance if you need it.

Below is a photo of the successive washing of henna from the hair, on all collages Before and After (I duplicate the first picture to make it easier to compare).

In the photo, the hair is already dyed with henna. 2 photos lightened hair a little. I painted 3 photos with henna again, it turned out a bright reddish color, henna grabbed the bleached hair instantly (held for 5 minutes) and gave a very bright color.

I didn't like the color and wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible, several shampooings and an oil mask and the color as in photos 2 and 3 (the color varies greatly depending on the lighting). I noticed that henna is very strongly washed out during the first days if desired, but after the first week the pigment is fixed ..

Then the pigment was fixed and despite all the oil masks, the color remained about the same. It can be seen that the redhead washed quite a bit, the yellowish strands are gone

For half a year, the color changed slightly, brightened, because it burned out in the summer.

This summer it has burned out strongly and the color has become completely incomprehensible, it seems that the blonde, then the redhead, then the brunette - it all depends on the lighting and clothes. Henna was painted 2 years ago, did not touch the length anymore.

Another year has passed, hair has burnt out in the sun

Why do I choose henna?

Henna gives a beautiful, natural reddish color that matches your hair color, it all blends together and you have a unique hair tone!

The biggest plus for me- red tones in paints are unstable, in order to maintain a rich red hair color, you need to dye the length very often, you can put a cross on oil masks, any bathing very strongly leaches out the pigment, this makes big adjustments to familiar image life.

Henna doesn't change your hair care, you can apply oil, swim, apply clay ... The pigment is washed out very little.

One more plus from color fastness - less often we paint or do not paint the length at all- this is very important in order to keep long hair in good condition. When painting the roots, the scalp will definitely thank you.

Henna adds a characteristic shine to the hair, but if you do not overdo it with it, with frequent staining, the shine goes away

The aroma of henna is clearly more pleasant than the smell of chemical paints, especially if there is lemon ether in henna, but the smell remains for a long time - a week.

For me, these are not disadvantages, but rather difficulties.

You need to find your proportions: the result differs significantly from water temperature, exposure time, fillers. Therefore, if you have found your recipe, you should remember it and stop at it.

For young ladies who cannot live without experiments on color, I do not recommend henna. All the advantages of henna coloring are revealed over time.

Light blondes, I also do not advise, firstly I do not understand why, and secondly, it will turn out to be a carrot from which it will be difficult to get rid of, the pigment eats into the blond hair instantly.

The process is tedious- make a broth, mix, pour oil, heat it up, do not blurt out everything around. The mixture flows if there is a lot of water, if it falls a little in debris. On dark hair, you need to keep it for a long time and follow the structure on the head.

The color at the moment, I tried to pick up a photo on the street, in the room the color seems reddish.

I often hear that Iranian henna is bad, but I haven’t tried another one, because I support the color that is and I’m afraid that another henna will give a different shade and I will have to dye the entire length. I am quite satisfied with the Iranian because it gives a completely natural result and can be bought almost everywhere.

It is not difficult to paint with henna, the main thing is just to get used to this process, find your proportions and carefully consider whether you are ready to become a redhead.

I do not regret at all that I started dyeing my hair with henna, for the entire time of use (about 10 years) I have not had any problems or disappointments with henna. My natural color was not bad at all, but I like the redhead much more, in it I feel, at the moment, the most harmonious.

Henna has many advantages if you have a small percentage of gray hair and you are not going to change your hair color often, then it is difficult to come up with a better option - the color lasts a long time, care like unpainted hair is not expensive, the scalp only heals, in combination with basma rich chocolate tones.

BUT hair dries, about 2 weeks after dyeing, you need to actively restore them. To me personally, the coloring of henna split ends only added. Henna affects the condition of the length rather negatively, and what you see in the photo is solely the merit of care.

Price: about 10 rubles a bag of ArtColor henna, I need one for the roots, for a length of about 4-5, sold in many supermarkets.

Thanks to everyone who mastered the review, do not forget everyone's hair is different and I only shared my experience and opinion. Beautiful hair!

About my hair care:

Periodic change of image for modern woman- natural desire. This is most easily accomplished by changing the color of the hairstyle. There are many types of paints for this, but not all of them leave the curls healthy after such a procedure.

Positive and negative qualities

When using this tool to dye the strands, they will not only remain healthy, but will also improve their condition. However, henna must be applied correctly, otherwise you can get a negative result.

Pros when used correctly

The photo shows how dyeing hair with henna improves their condition.

Henna belongs to natural dyes, so it is guaranteed that there are no harmful chemicals in it. On the contrary, it is saturated with useful substances, which, when painted, have a healing effect on the structure of the curls and the condition of the scalp.

After application:

  • the structure becomes rigid, elastic;
  • the loss stops;
  • the bulbs are hardened;
  • the rods are saturated with moisture;
  • dandruff will disappear.

An important advantage of this tool is also the fact that the resulting shade lasts a long time. It does not cause allergic reactions, so everyone, without exception, can paint with it. A dye made from lawsonia powder covers each hair with a thinnest layer, through which UV rays do not penetrate. The price of this natural product is quite affordable.

Negative sides

It happens that lawsonia powder has a negative effect on the condition of the curls, if used incorrectly. Too frequent staining leads to severe dryness of them, as well as the scalp. As a result, the ends may begin to split.

Among the negative properties of this product are:

  • "Patchy" coloring in the presence of gray hair (such hair coloring with henna in the photo above);
  • it is impossible to dye with henna on dark hair;
  • not everyone has a pleasant smell during the procedure.

NOTE! After painting with this powder, it is forbidden to do perm.

Application features and painting technology

Modern beauty salons do not use henna, as well as others natural remedies for painting curls. They focus on chemical pigment formulations.

With their help, it is much faster, easier to choose the desired shade. The result is almost 100% predictable. Plus the price of natural dyes is available to everyone, so you won't take much for such a procedure.

Henna and basma are best used on their own at home. They give you the opportunity to experiment with your own hands with tones and save a significant amount of money from the family budget. Besides, it is so nice to know that you are the creator of your own individuality.

Secrets of effective staining

Henna hair coloring will be of high quality if this product is applied abundantly.

Not sure how to dye your hair with henna at home? This business has its own nuances:

  1. Should never be used when shampooing before painting with conditioner. This will nullify all efforts.
  2. The amount and composition of the finished paint depends on the length of the strand. To achieve the best result, they need to be “expiated” in it. That is, it is not recommended to be “greedy”.
  3. Do not paint with this product if highlights or discoloration have been done previously.
  4. Think in advance what shade you need to get.

For hair different lengths an individual amount of lawsonia powder is required: 50-100 g - for short ones; 200 g - length to the base of the neck; 300 g - up to the shoulders; 400 g - up to the waist.

ON A NOTE! In order not to resort to the help of scales, you can use a glass / tablespoon. In a two-hundred-gram glass, 100 g of lawsonia powder is placed, and in a tablespoon - 7 g.

What is required for painting

To dye your hair with henna, you will need to prepare gloves, be sure to glass dishes and a brush.

Before painting, you need to prepare everything so that you do not have to look for something. The process will require:

  • hairpins that will fix the colored strands;
  • a sheet to protect yourself from getting paint;
  • a plastic bag or shower cap;
  • brush, comb;
  • cup / bowl (exclusively glass or ceramic);
  • unnecessary towel;
  • brush;
  • disposable gloves;
  • wooden spoon for kneading the coloring composition.

Step by step technology

All things from the list should be near you. So everything will go according to plan, no unforeseen situations will arise.

DIY painting instructions are as follows:

  1. The mixture is being prepared. The calculation is done based on the length of the curls.
  2. Curls are carefully combed. First with a regular brush, then a comb with a wide, and then with a fine tooth. The head is divided into partings.
  3. Ears and border near hair growth are lubricated with cream.
  4. Disposable gloves are worn.
  5. A brush is taken and the staining process begins with it. You need to start from the top of the head and move to the forehead.
  6. After working through all the zones on the head, the curls are painted over carefully along the full length. To do this, the mixture is scooped up with a gloved hand, distributed evenly over the strands, then movements are made, as if during washing. All actions must be as careful as possible.
  7. The hair is styled at the crown of the head, wrapped in a shower cap / plastic bag and covered with a towel on top.
  8. You can go about your business. After the required time has elapsed, the "compress" unfolds and the paint is thoroughly washed out. The procedure is carried out until the water becomes clear.

ATTENTION! Henna dyeing for dark curls is performed according to similar instructions. Don't expect your hair to take on a juicy reddish tint after that. This dye is almost powerless on this color, but it can deepen the natural shade, giving the curls power and shine.

Dilution and proportions depending on the desired color

The photo shows the possible shades that can be obtained with henna alone, depending on the base color and structure.

The color obtained in the process of staining with Lavsonia powder can be completely different. It depends on the quality of the dye and the characteristics of the hair structure. They are individual for each person, therefore they react differently to the dye.

And the time required to consolidate the same shade, each person will have their own. To obtain dark colors, including chocolate or rich chestnut, you need to mix henna plus basma in a certain proportion.

Basma is another natural substance used in the beauty industry. This herbal powder is grayish green in color. Basma is obtained from the leaves of the indigo plant and used for coloring in dark tones... Combined hair dyeing with henna and basma makes it possible to experiment with your hair in an interesting way.

Table of proportions and holding time when dyeing different shades of hair with henna and basma to obtain a specific color.

THIS IS USEFUL TO KNOW! Pure basma is not used for hair coloring. This is especially true for persons with pronounced gray hair. Suffice it to recall the character of Sergei Filippov from the Soviet film "12 Chairs", who received a greenish-bluish hair after similar experiments. It is very problematic to wash off such a "result".

How to dye your hair with henna and basma to get interesting shades? Everything is quite simple, you just need to follow the recommendations below.

"Saturated chestnut"

In the photo, the result of hair dyeing (rich chestnut) with henna and basma in the proportion below.

Not sure how to dye your hair brown henna? It's pretty straightforward. You just need to add brewed coffee and basma to the powder from lawsonia leaves.

This paint is prepared as follows in the following proportions:

  1. A pack of henna (about 152 g) is mixed with 2 packs of basma (125 g). To get the desired color, the mixture is poured with strong coffee and allowed to brew for about 2.5 hours.
  2. Add honey (a couple of tablespoons) and 5 capsules of vitamin E. This will nourish and moisturize the skin and bulbs well.
  3. Stir with a wooden spoon.
  4. The paint according to the technology described above is used for its intended purpose.

"Bitter chocolate"

Hair color dark chocolate, created with henna, basma and coffee.

You can dye your hair with henna chocolate by adding basma to it. The subtleties of preparing such a composition:

  1. Take 2 ingredients equally and then mix. In this case, you need to calculate how much powder is required, taking into account the length of the strand.
  2. Add ground coffee (4 tablespoons) to the mixture.
  3. Pour the made mass with white wine so that the composition is not too thick or liquid.
  4. Put in a water bath.
  5. Allow the mass to warm up and start painting immediately.
  6. It takes about 2.5 hours to keep such a composition on the hair.

Purple

In order to achieve this effect, you will need to dilute lawsonia powder in red beet juice. It can be replaced with squeezes from elderberries or freshly brewed hibiscus tea.

Dark tone

To obtain an almost black color, henna and basma are mixed in a ratio of 1 to 2, poured with water and thoroughly rubbed. Make a very thick mixture. To get a deep black color, it will take at least 3 hours to sit in a plastic bag and with a towel on your head.

NOTE! It may not be possible to get an almost black color instantly. The final result will be known only in a day, or even two.

Rules for dyeing gray hair

Henna and basma go well with each other and together paint over gray hair well.

The older a person becomes, the more his hair loses its coloring pigment. After quite a long time, it completely discolours. For some, this moment is not at all important.

However, many women are very worried about the appearance of white hairs, but do not want to use unnatural dyes. For them, the question is very relevant: how to dye gray hair with henna so that it remains healthy?

It should be noted that this natural dye is incompatible with gray hair, since during the dyeing process all white hairs will become carrot or orange-red. An alternative is adding other substances to the powder.

It can be:

  • basma;
  • infusion of chamomile pharmacy;
  • infusion of walnuts;
  • natural coffee (ground);
  • beetroot juice;
  • saffron powder;
  • other.

Henna without impurities on gray hair can paint over them unevenly, as in the photo.

Some subtleties when dyeing gray hair with henna with various natural additives are as follows:

  1. Test the finished paint on a separate strand. Remember how many minutes it took to complete the painting. Spend the very first procedure exactly the same amount of time.
  2. Repeat the staining after a few days. Keep the paint on for about 2 hours.
  3. As additives to this powder, coffee, chamomile or walnut infusion are suitable. They will give noble shades, eliminating the formation of bright red tones.

Ways to get rid of henna

The kefir yeast mask will help to gradually remove the henna from the hair.

If you want variety, and your hair is painted with Lawsonia powder, you will have to resort to various tricks. After all, this dye lasts a long time on the hair. What to do? You can just wait. During this time, the strands will grow back. True, it will take at least six months or a year if the hair is shoulder-length or longer.

You can make some sacrifices using an aggressive method of "flushing" - a mask with alcohol. For this you will need:

  1. Find 70% alcohol.
  2. Soak a sponge in alcohol and rub your hair with it.
  3. Do nothing for 7 minutes.
  4. Apply any oil on top of the alcohol (olive oil is ideal).
  5. Wrap your head with cling film or put on a bag / shower cap, roll a turban out of a towel.
  6. Hold this "compress" for 40 minutes.
  7. Use a mild shampoo to rinse off.
  8. Repeat all the steps again after a couple of days.

There are simpler and easier ways to get rid of henna. They are not as aggressive, however, they need to be carried out. a large number of times to completely "wash" the annoying color. For such purposes, an oil or kefir-yeast mask, rinsing with vinegar, and washing your hair with laundry soap are suitable.

Is it possible to dye your hair with paint after henna and how best to do it. This is a separate not short topic, so if you are interested in such information, you can find out about it by the link.

Finally

As it became clear, it is not difficult to paint with henna on your own. But if you still have questions, you can clearly see everything in the video. Do you have experience in this matter? Or do you know any exclusive color options with natural lawsonia powder? Write about them in the comments.

Naturalness has become the latest trend of our time. While the producers famous brands continue to improve the formulations of chemical compounds, all more girls give preference to means that have long been known for their healing properties. Henna for hair is one of the most popular ways to improve hair condition.

What it is?

Henna is a powder from the lawsonia plant. Oriental women used it even before our era, which is much longer than the use of this remedy by European girls. Lawsonia raises many questions and disputes in our country, and therefore it is important to understand its essence, because it can bring significant benefits. So, Lawsonia grows in warm countries. Its main suppliers are Iran, Egypt, Morocco, India. Although the climate of these countries is similar, it still has its own differences, which leaves an imprint on the Lawsonia itself, for example, Indian henna has a greater number of tones than Iranian.

The production of henna can be considered waste-free, because every particle of this medicinal plant is used. So, oils are extracted from flowers, coloring powder is obtained from the leaves, and colorless henna is made from the stems for girls who only want to strengthen their hair with a miraculous gruel, while not dyeing them.

The powder itself has a light green muted tone reminiscent of khaki. The smell of henna is herbal and almost neutral. Ideally, the consistency should be finely ground, which is what Indian products are famous for. However, there is also a coarser grind, for example, unmilled leaves can be found in Iranian stamps. At the same time, the cost of Iran is significantly lower. This factor affects the ease of applying and rinsing the mixture from the hair.

It should be said that the tone of the powder can be close to brown. There is no need to be afraid of entering the composition of artificial additives, however, you still need to be wary. The color directly depends on the type of henna, and, of course, the highest category with a light green tint is considered the best. Lavsonia leaves, from which such a rich color is obtained, are harvested in the summer, instantly drying them in the burning sun, while chlorophyll, which affects the color saturation, is retained in the maximum dosage. The middle and lower varieties in the name designate leaves that are subject to slow drying and have lost chlorophyll in their composition, which means that coloring with their help is practically ineffectual.

Peculiarities

The features of henna are directly related to its use. So, Lawsonia powder is used:

  • when dyeing curls in color from red to burgundy;
  • when strengthening hair follicles;
  • dandruff treatment;
  • normalization of the fat balance of the scalp.

This effect is achieved thanks to the beneficial components that can be seen in this plant. So, the composition contains an acid that binds keratin in the hair structure, smoothing fluffy scales. The tannins and essential oils found in Lawsonia are responsible for the shine of curls, comparable to professional lamination.

It should be said about chlorophyll, which contributes to persistent and bright coloration... The process of dyeing the curls is not harmful, because the coloring pigment only covers the curls, not penetrating into the natural structure of the hair. Hair after henna procedures is not afraid of aggressive sun and sea water, because invisible protection envelops and covers with a thin imperceptible film. Continuing the topic of henna staining, it is important to say about the hypoallergenicity of the product. Natural henna in sachets, consisting only of powder, does not cause any unpleasant symptoms in people with sensitive skin... This gives it superiority over chemical dyes.

However, today you can buy Lawsonia in various forms. For example, liquid henna Is a ready-to-use product. The powder in such products has already been turned into a gruel of ideal consistency with the addition of various benefits for the hair, for example, burdock oil... Such supplements are not easy marketing ploy, because any herbal dyes dry curls, and oils serve as neutralizers of this process.

Tint henna Is another frequent inhabitant of supermarket shelves. It is a henna-based tint balm. At the same time, dyes, emulsifiers and other chemical compounds can also be observed in the composition, and therefore it is important to carefully study the list of components before buying. Otherwise, the tint products are really good, because the content of various softeners in them has a positive effect on the condition of the hair, which takes on a light shade.

Professional henna also available for sale. It is interesting that in colorless compositions, not lavsonium is used, but cassia. This is another type of medicinal plant related to legumes. Only henna from Lawsonia can be considered real. For eyebrows, a mixture obtained from lawsonia powder is used. At the time of the procedure, not only the hairs, but also the skin are colored and healed.

Advantages and disadvantages

Unfortunately, such a vegetable dye has its drawbacks, which in specific cases override the advantages. However, let's start with the pros. As stated earlier, natural henna is a completely natural product saturated with many oils and vitamins. It allows you to get rid of dandruff and make hair follicles stronger, further increasing their shine. Another important factor is the possibility of using henna by pregnant and lactating women. It can be used both for coloring and for mixing healing masks. The disadvantages of henna include:

  • incompatible with conventional paints. So, henna cannot make a red-haired beauty out of a brunette with dyed curls. The maximum possible effect is a subtle copper overflow of hair in the sun;
  • henna is difficult to paint over with chemical paints. On blond hair, the color can easily turn green after such procedures;
  • blondes who decide to dye the curls with henna will acquire this shade indefinitely. It is almost impossible to wash off henna from light strands, because it tenaciously eats into the scales of the hair;
  • ineffective in painting over gray hair;
  • has a negative effect on perm, straightening elastic curls;
  • long and frequent use negates everything beneficial features plants, making curls dull and split.

Summarizing the above, we can say with confidence that henna is able to transform hair, giving it a mysterious shade, however, in its use it is important to feel the measure.

Manufacturers

Wanting to entrust your hair to professionals, it is recommended to be especially careful when choosing a henna manufacturer. And one should start by studying Indian henna, because it is she who wins in terms of the thoroughness of the grinding and the variety of tones.

A prominent representative of henna from India is the brand Lady henna... You can see natural brown and red henna in its assortment. It should be noted that in order to obtain a soft brown tone, henna in the composition is mixed with another natural dye - basma. Besides, Lady henna presents natural henna-based paints. Thanks to dyes color palette products range from coppery to burgundy. However, the word "natural" in the name does not exclude chemical components, and therefore an important factor here is to check for possible allergies to the components.

Another representative of Indian henna that can be bought in Russia is Aasha... It is also represented by species diversity. So, henna can be split:

  • Ayurvedic;
  • herbal.

The first look, presented in several shades, nourishes and nourishes the hair, giving it a light tone from red to brown. Herbal henna containing a colorant can become a permanent paint, however, as in the previous case, allergic reactions are possible. Herbal henna cannot be considered completely natural.

Khadi Is a brand of natural cosmetics from India. Its range includes shampoos and hair oils, as well as cosmetics for face and body skin care. Did not stay Khadi and aside from the production of henna. Five stylish shades, one neutral and two types of basma - this is what the brand owns today. It should be said that each product is completely natural and does not contain anything other than henna and basma.

In addition to Indian, you can also find Moroccan henna on sale. Manufacturer Sahara Tazarin produces 100% natural finely ground product, which is in no way inferior to Indian. It is worth saying that the price of such products is an order of magnitude higher, because Moroccan lawsonia is considered one of the richest in essential oils and other useful substances.

Shades

Henna in all its variety of tones can be colored or colorless. The brightness of the shade depends on the variety and country of origin. So, it is believed that you can get the most fiery red hue with the help of Sudanese Lawsonia. Iran and India cannot be compared with it in saturation, however, with the knowledge of some tricks, they can present an equally attractive tone.

What color is it?

Indian lawsonia is available today in several colors, namely:

  • gold;
  • chestnut;
  • swallowtail;
  • burgundy;
  • tea tree.

However, it is important to be on the lookout here, because the natural color of henna is only red, which means that chemical or natural dyes were added to the paint. The latter will certainly only make your hair more beautiful. Chemical additives, in most cases, contain paraphenylenediamine, which is famous for the mass of allergic reactions. It should be avoided and not settled for beautiful shades with it. You can use pure lawsonia powder mixed with various additives.

  • So, from a mixture of henna, you can get a chocolate tone if you mix it with cocoa or coffee, as well as with walnut or nutmeg shells.
  • A light palette of ginger is available when mixing henna on a decoction of orange peels. For blondes, the best option would be chamomile infusion or lemon juice.
  • The languid hibiscus color is easy to achieve when mixed with beet juice, plum broth or red wine. In this case, the ideal shade will turn out with both Iranian and Indian lawsonia. Natural dyes will not harm your hair.

Dyeing

Dyeing curls with henna is always an interesting process with a share of adventurism, because shades can be different. The color can successfully blend into dark and dyed hair, creating a beautiful tone. Henna will fall on light brown curls much brighter, delighting with a copper overflow. According to experts, the maximum color development occurs on the second day.

Today, beauty salons are moving away from the classic coloring, offering more modern options. So, in the salon you can try the trendy henna ombre. Dark roots in it smoothly merge into lightened tips. It is almost impossible to achieve such a result at home.

And also henna lightening is now possible perfect for pregnant and lactating women who want to change the tone of their curls. Absorbent henna varieties are mixed here with beneficial fruit acids, lightening hair with maximum benefit for them. As clients note, the hair becomes better after the procedure than after dyeing.

Classic henna painting can easily take place at home.

How to paint at home?

Home hair coloring is carried out in several simple stages. So, if coarsely ground henna is chosen, it is important to sift it through a sieve. This will help make natural curl dye easier to wash off. The amount of powder depends on the length of the hair. For long strands, it is enough to use 2-3 sachets of 100 grams, for short ones - one package is enough for 3 applications. You also need to prepare your workplace, polyethylene and a warm hat or towel for keeping the mixture on the curls. The best option there will be a zone near the mirror, because the thoroughness of the painting will play a decisive role in the final result.

How to breed correctly?

Preparation of broth or water for breeding - important stage, on which the opening of the coloring pigment of henna depends. Chamomile tea, plum infusion or regular boiling water should be cooled to 70 degrees. After diluting the henna, it is necessary to let it brew. This can take three or more hours. Litmus paper readiness - slightly darkened powder. Some experts advise to dilute the already infused mixture with kefir or lemon juice... The latter, it should be said, negatively affects the firmness and elasticity of the curls, making them dry out. In addition to the acidic environment, it will not be superfluous to include ylang-ylang or rosemary in the oils.

How to apply?

The finished composition of the consistency of liquid sour cream is applied to the hair with a sponge or brush. According to experienced girls, it is more convenient to use a brush from any other paint than combs or sponges. You should start from the roots, moving smoothly to the tips. It is worth noting that the coloring of the full length of hair occurs a maximum of once every six months, because henna is not afraid of sunlight and salt water, which means that it does not fade. Re-staining of regrown roots is the only procedure required after applying henna.

Better on dirty or clean hair?

Henna, unlike chemical dyes, is applied only to clean, freshly washed hair. So the pigment better penetrates the hair, reliably fixing the saturated color. In addition, the fact that it is not recommended to wash your head for two days after the procedure is in favor of clean curls.

How much should you keep?

The duration here can vary considerably. So, for a light shade, you should hold the mixture for 40 minutes, for a rich and bright one - all night. Only experiments will help determine the right time. Hair treatment requires a 20-30 minute exposure. After the procedures, the mixture is washed off the scalp using shampoo, adding a hair mask.

Will it get in the foil?

You can use foil or plastic to wrap your hair. The first type is recommended to a greater extent for blondes, because after wrapping the hair with polyethylene, instead of a saturated red tone, blonde hair becomes dirty-carrot. This does not happen with dark hair, and therefore you can use one or another method at your discretion.

How often can you?

Despite its naturalness, prolonged use of henna without any additional nutrition for the hair negatively affects its condition. Once shiny hair quickly turn into brittle, and even worse, they begin to fall out. To avoid such negative situations, it is important to dye the entire hair length with henna every six months. Masks based on colorless henna with nutritional supplements are carried out no more than once a month.

Hello everyone! Remember, I talked about how to make the hair thick, thick, increase the density ()? I choose henna.

I knew from childhood that henna is useful, but I did not always see this very benefit for my hair. After repeated applications, I found out:

1. The resulting effect of dense smooth hair depends on their initial state, henna quality, quantity and frequency of staining.

I choose henna without additives, not mixed with other herbs. It's more interesting for me to mix myself. The best in quality and very affordable, in my opinion, from suppliers Aroma-zone (France) and LLC "Soap nuts" (St. Petersburg)... When ordering henna from them, I am sure of its purity and effectiveness.

The worse the condition of the hair, the more masks with henna they will need. Henna needs to be gradually layered on the hair. Layer by layer, mask after mask, thin, empty, loose hair will become dense, bouncy and shiny. At the same time (!) Such hair should be given time to recover, to rest between henna stains.

Conversely, healthy hair only needs 1-2 applications of henna to become elastic and thick.

Over time and with each new dyeing, henna on the hair becomes more saturated, darkens. Having achieved the desired color along the length, you can paint it with colorless henna or not paint it at all. The effect of polished hair is not washed off.

2. Colorless henna does the same thing on the hair as colored henna, only it does not dye the hair. And it does not lighten. This is the same lawsonia plant, specially devoid of pigment.

3. The intensity of hair color as a result of dyeing is influenced by the composition of the soil on which the henna has grown. The more iron, the redder. This is the information from Aroma-zone

Light red to deep red. Egyptian, Indian and Yemeni henna.

Popular Iranian henna gives a reddish color.

The lighter the original hair color, the lighter and brighter the result after colored henna will be. This is blonde, light brown and red hair. 10 to 7 tone levels. Hair will be colored after the first mask.

Dark hair, black will not radically change color. They will acquire a shade, red, red, burgundy warm highlights. Dark hair need more masks than light ones.

Mixing henna with other powders, you can achieve different shades.

Ginger - orange

Carnation - red

Turmeric - yellow

Indigofer (basma) - dark

Rapontik - honey

I tried mixing with coffee and cocoa, but did not get a visible coffee shade or cocoa. For brown shades, there are special blends of henna and basma, such as katam.

4. Dry henna does not dye the hair. It "gives off pigment" in the water. The longer the henna is in water (wet, wet paste), the more pigment it gives off, the more intense the color will be. I used to put colored henna paste on my hair and go to bed. All night with henna on my head. It is not comfortable. Now I brew henna and leave it in a closed container overnight, and in the morning I apply it on my head and leave it for only an hour. The temperature of the paste does not matter. The main thing is that the paste remains wet, does not dry out either in the container at night or on the head.

5. For henna to dye hair, only water is needed. All other additives are optional. Eggs, honey and so on do not play a role for the quality and color of the hair. Unless they improve the consistency of the paste.

It is appropriate to add vegetable oil to the paste. This gives the paste a creamy consistency and makes it easier to spread through the hair. Powder [henna] absorbs moisture, including from the hair. The oil softens this drying property of henna. Fatty kefir has a similar effect.

I prefer light oils that are quickly absorbed into the skin and hair. This shortens the holding time of the mask on the head. I like argan and jojoba. When they are not at hand, I use olive oil. Thick, viscous oils: shea, castor, coconut - it is difficult to wash off the hair and they are absorbed for a long time. For example, argan is absorbed into the skin and hair without residue within 30 minutes, shea needs 8 hours to be absorbed.

The easiest way to rinse the paste off your head is in standing water (in a basin). You can take a shower too. I wash off the paste with shampoo. This does not affect hair color and improves powder washout. Because if the hair is not rinsed enough after henna, it is tough, difficult to comb through, not elastic<< даже после проф маски на длину.

Previously, immediately after dyeing with henna, I had harsh hair, not silky. This took place after the next shampooing with a strong mask. No matter what I added to the paste (citric acid, glycerin, rice proteins), this unpleasant effect of dry hair persisted immediately after henna. Now I get rid of it very simply - I use not a moisturizing mask after the shampoo, but a conditioner for the hair coloring procedure, which stabilizes the acidity. I have it Angel expert... I don't add anything else to the paste itself. Only henna, water and oil. The conditioner does an excellent job of treating dry hair after henna. They are the same as always, as after a professional mask.

They say henna loves an acidic environment. Henna is all the same. Hair needs an acidic medium right after the dye to put the scales in place.

6. I dye my hair with henna once a month. Before dyeing, I prepare my hair. They need moisture. Therefore, my head with the application Lakme Master Oil(). Next wash with conditioner. At the moment it is Wella elements() and only then I start coloring with henna >> paste, shampoo, Angel conditioner. Next wash again with Angel Stabilizing Conditioner and continue as usual.

7. Bleached hair and henna. Yes, it's compatible! Remembering the dryness of hair after henna, for a long time I thought that I would make my hair even worse if I dyed it with henna. I was afraid that they would become even tougher and more disobedient. Observing points 4, 5, 6, I do not experience any problems with the quality of the hair.

First of all, what is it? It is a natural paint made from dried leaves of thornless lawsonia by grinding them into powder, traditionally used as a coloring and disinfectant in India and the Arab countries.

It has a number of features that must be taken into account when applying:

  • although it is a natural ingredient, and its use as a colorant does not pose any harm to health, it can nevertheless cause allergies. Before dyeing the curls with it, you need to apply a little mixture to the bend of the elbow and wait. If no allergic reaction occurs within 24 hours, you can safely apply it;
  • if you dye your hair too often, they can lose volume, since this powder makes the curls heavier and makes them stiffer;
  • it can help with excessive oily content, but normal or dry hair can dry out, so when applying it is worth adding cosmetic oils to the mask to avoid drying out;
  • when stained, a clear red tone appears. This is not a disadvantage for everyone, however, if you need a pure red color, you need to add components that extinguish the redness;
  • contains tannins that give the strands shine, smoothing the scales of the outer layer, thus restoring damaged ends.

It is also worth remembering that the lighter the curls are from nature, the brighter the color will be and a more persistent effect, otherwise it has no contraindications and can be used, including by pregnant and lactating women, without the slightest harm to health.

Despite the persistence of the given shade, it does not have such a strong coloring power that, like chemical dyes, it completely replaces the natural hair color.

First of all henna can be "normal" (coloring) and colorless. The difference between them is in the method of obtaining: colorless is obtained from the same plant as the usual one, but not from dried and crushed leaves, but from the stems processed in the same way.

Apart from the coloring ability, these two types have the same effect: strengthening the hair follicle and hair shaft, stimulating blood circulation in the scalp, eliminating dandruff, creating a thin protective layer.

Ordinary powder, in turn, can differ only by the country of origin - India or Iran. Indian can provide richer and more durable color and faster coloration, while Iranian can produce more shades by mixing with other components.

There is no such thing as “tint henna”. Everything that is sold under this name with the signatures "burgundy", "chestnut", etc. is a mixture with a cheap dye that has every chance of ruining the hair of a gullible customer. Natural, not harmful to curls, in its pure form can give only a reddish-red color, shades can be obtained by independently mixing the powder with other natural ingredients.

What should be considered before using?

Before you start staining, you need:

  1. Determine your hair type(oily, normal, dry) and, if necessary, select a cosmetic oil to add to the mixture to avoid overdrying. You can choose from burdock, olive, coconut, grape seed oil, wheat germ - this is a matter of personal preference.
  2. Determine the desired tone... It can be influenced by additional components, essential oils, and, of course, it directly depends on the natural color and time of dyeing.

For, to get rid of the red tint, you can add components such as:

  • decoctions of chamomile or nettle;
  • basma (also for darkening and getting a chestnut tone);
  • turmeric (can give severe yellowness);
  • lemon juice;
  • ginger (seasoning or juice of fresh ginger).

For darker shades, chestnut and brown with a copper sheen, you can use the following additives:

  • basma;
  • strong tea;
  • cocoa;
  • infusion of oak bark;
  • coffee.

Can also be added to henna mask essential oil(a few drops) for a more intense and rich color. Tea tree, eucalyptus, frankincense oils will give a stronger effect. The oils of rosemary, geranium, lavender have a weaker effect.

Lavender oil, although less pronounced, does not irritate the scalp and is safe for use by children, pregnant and lactating women.

What shades can be obtained after staining: photo

The most popular shades of coloring are shades of red, brown and gold, for which there are a variety of recipes.

At the heart of any recipe is henna (1 sachet for chin-length hair, 2 sachets for shoulder-blade lengths, 3-4 sachets for longer curls), brewed with hot water to a consistency reminiscent of sour cream. You can add different components to this base, depending on the shade you want to achieve, or you can brew it not with water, but with decoctions that can help in achieving a certain tone.

When choosing this miracle prosh in the store, be sure to pay attention to the date of manufacture and expiration date: an expired product does not give the desired result.

Red

  1. Cook two tablespoons of crushed madder in one glass of water, then pour henna with this broth.
  2. Add one part of ground cloves to three parts of powder and pour hot red wine or beet juice instead of water.

Chestnut or chocolate

  1. Add amla in powder to henna in a ratio of one to one, add water.
  2. Boil two tablespoons of ground coffee (for one packet of powder) for five minutes in a glass of water, pour into the mask.
  3. Boil the crushed walnut shells over low heat (boil the longer, the stronger the shade is needed) and add to the mask.
  4. Pour the powder instead of water with very strong black tea.
  5. Pour 100 g of buckthorn with two and a half glasses of water, boil for half an hour and add to the mask.

Gold and bronze

  1. Boil dried rhubarb in water or white wine, then add to the mask.
  2. Boil a few tablespoons of saffron for five minutes and mix with the powder.
  3. Dissolve a few tablespoons of honey in water, pour the resulting liquid into the powder.
  4. Add one part turmeric to four parts henna.
  5. Add 1 packet of ground cinnamon or ground ginger to the mask.
  6. It is best to fill the mixture with chamomile broth or infusion on orange peels.

It's amazing how beautiful tones can be achieved with a regular plant.

Henna does not like boiling water, and you need to fill it with water or broths, the temperature of which is not more than 70 degrees.

Reviews

Anna, 26 years old, Omsk

I have been painting with henna for several years, during this time my hair has been in almost all shades of red, I experimented desperately. But there was no harm, because of the condition of the curls, you can’t say that I painted, now only once a month I make a mask with lemon juice to maintain the color. Naturally, the hair is light brown, the copper shade is gorgeous, natural, healthy shine, not a trace of dandruff.

The only negative: if you forget to paint, it will wash out to yellowness at the roots, but the main thing here is to regularly tint.

Mila, 48 years old, Perm

I have a lot of gray hair passed from chemical paint to natural - henna. Sometimes gray roots did not stain, the advice of a hairdresser is to dilute with serum. I bought kefir, brought it to a boil, strained everything that was curdled, and used warm serum.

All the roots have been painted over, the color is chic-shine. And the loss has decreased. I advise everyone.

Vasilisa, 30 years old, Nizhny Novgorod

Disappointed with chemical paints, I decided to try the Iranian powder. The shine and color of my hair is so amazing that at work everyone asks how I dye it. I use it twice a month. I am very satisfied.

The hair is beautiful, shiny, the color is deep brown. For the last three years I have been using henna and have never had dandruff or split ends. I like her.

Olga, 27 years old, Togliatti

I have been painting beautifully with natural paint for about a year now. Before that, 5 years - with chemical paints. And this is heaven and earth! I am so sorry that I didn't use it instead of all this bullshit even earlier. It is much cheaper and better quality. And the result cannot be compared with any paint that is constantly washed off, the color fades ... In short, since the beginning of dyeing with henna, I have already received so many compliments for my hair.

Anna, 32 years old, Moscow

I tried henna as a paint and as a medicine for hair. I am very satisfied. Hair is lush, thick, soft and smooth. Perhaps not suitable for everyone.

Henna is perhaps one of the most versatile hair care products due to its harmlessness and the huge number of possible shades. Experiments with mixing different natural ingredients will also not harm, you can try different combinations to achieve your own, individual color for the sake of beauty without sacrifice.
