Christmas ball made of satin ribbons using artichoke technique. Christmas ball in artichoke technique, master class Artichoke decoration

The most beloved and widely celebrated holiday in our country is approaching - New Year. We have prepared a master class, during which we will make an amazingly beautiful festive ball using the artichoke technique, which you can use to decorate your home or give it to your loved ones.

For work you will need:

Tapes 2.5 or 5 cm wide (in this case 4.8 m were taken at the rate of 2.5 cm tape). Balls that are made of ribbons of 3 colors look more impressive; 2 shades of red and gold were chosen for the master class.
A piece of tape 1 cm wide (about 26 cm);
A small piece of tape 0.5 cm wide (about 14 cm);
Tailor's nails (about 500 pcs.);
If desired, you can use beads and sequins for decoration;
Foam ball (in this example, 7 cm in diameter).

Before starting work, consider the ball. It clearly shows the junction of the two hemispheres - the equator. Our work will be completed along this line. If you look closely at the ball, you can find the poles. On our ball, they look like flowers in a circle.

Cut off 2 square pieces from a tape 2.5 cm wide. Stick the carnations with these squares into the poles of our ball. These will be the starting points for the work. We put the ball aside for a while.

Apply in rows of scales or ribbons

It's time to get the ribbons ready for the job. We will need pieces measuring 2.5 * 5.5 cm. If you have a tape of the desired color only 5 cm wide, this is not a big deal. Cut off a 5.5 cm shred and cut lengthwise so that each piece has 5.5 cm of the factory edge.

We start with a light shade of red. The first piece is put so that the middle of the edge coincides with the pin in the pole, I pin it. If this is a piece of tape 5 cm wide, put it with the factory edge towards the pole.

Fold the edges of the patch as if we were starting to make a paper airplane. We fix the corners with pins.
We have already mastered the main part of the technique: we connected the midpoints exactly, folded and secured one edge, repeated with the second.

Our first row is ready. The most important thing in this work is accuracy. We strongly recommend doing both sides at the same time: after completing a row from the side of one pole, it is better to immediately repeat it from the back side. So the work turns out to be more symmetrical and creative interest is not lost.

Put gold in the second layer. We put a golden patch with the middle of the edge on the seam between the triangles of the first row. To make the ornament symmetrical, it is better to use a ruler for the first time, later, when the eye is trained, it will be possible to refuse it. The second row is located at a distance of 6 mm from the pole.

The second layer is finished. Symmetry and parallelism of parts are indicators of the quality of our work. If something turns out uneven, it is better to fix it right away.

The open gold color looks somewhat pretentious and vulgar, so we shift the golden scales with dark red ones, leaving only a 4 mm edge.

We retreat 1 cm from the pole and put the second one between the scales of the first gold layer, covering it similarly to the first with red, but now light.

We put a light red layer at a distance of 1 cm from the previous one in this row. We retreat 1 cm and lay out the dark red scales.

Let's add more gold, stepping back 8 mm from the previous scales.

Cover the golden scales with light red ones.

We put the final row, we check that the ornaments come symmetrically to the equator, the foam at their junction should not be visible.

We decorate the equator of the New Year's ball

Before starting decorating the equator, we need to remove all protruding ends and threads from the ribbon. They can be cut or melted gently with a lighter.

How to make a loop for a Christmas ball

Not a single ball can do without a loop for a Christmas tree. We take a piece of tape 0.5 cm wide (we have it 14 cm long), fold it in half and attach it to the equator with 2 pins on each side. You can use fishing line or a beautiful lace for the eyelet, but it is more convenient to attach them with glue.

Now let's decorate. To do this, we need a tape 1 cm wide. We put it seamy side up, closing the loop, and fasten it with pins on both sides as close to it as possible. We bend the tape in the opposite direction and lead along the equator.

We stretch the tape to the loop. We bend the excess down. Insert a tailor's carnation into the resulting loop from one side and the other and push it into the foam, closing it with a ribbon on top.

The tape can be glued on. This option will be a good solution if you plan to decorate with lace or sequins, which will also be attached with glue.

Balls using this technique can be made large and small, with or without brocade ribbons, in different colors and textures.
The bolder your experiment in making such a Christmas tree toy, the brighter and more interesting the result will be!

This year we got sick with artichokes - or rather the “artichoke” technique. We really liked Christmas balls in this patchwork technique. But the shreds need to be cut, ironed))) Therefore, we are all hands for ready-made ribbons of all kinds. This master class is for those who have not yet become addicted to artichokes)), and for whom, this technique will be something new, and for those who are looking for something ELSE)) to do with children. Join us, the activity is very creative, meditative, perfect for while away the long winter evenings.

What we need - foam balls, ribbons, tailor's needles (many, many, many).

Our first ball was 7 cm in diameter and we had 2 beige and chocolate ribbons, 3 meters each. Enough end-to-end. We made a conclusion: for balls with a diameter of 8-10 mm, a total of about 6.5 meters of tape is needed. We made our first ball from a 16 mm wide satin ribbon. Subsequently, experience showed that for balls 8-10 cm in diameter, tapes with a width of 16-20 mm are the most optimal. (Further you will see - so that the studs are not visible and to overlap the "seams").

The tape is cut into pieces of 3-4 cm. We cut it in advance, each piece is folded and attached separately.

So, we look for the center of the ball and attach a piece with needles like this:

And with the help of two needles we attach to the ball, with the top of the triangle to the middle of the ball:

In the first row, we get 4 triangles. In the second row, we fasten the triangles in a checkerboard pattern:

And here is the next row:

And the next one:

I think you have already understood what the "joke" is))). Then we fasten our triangles to the very end ... The end of the ball.

I don't think we need to say that we are trying to fold the triangles evenly and attach them, neatly overlapping so that the needle caps are not visible. My daughter did it, and I try not to climb when the child does, so as not to discourage the last hunt, to do something)))). It's a dreary occupation and I thought she would cool down quickly, and I myself would come off with the balls))), but it was not there - she finished the whole ball, I was given the command to take pictures. Moreover, after that she proceeded to the next one. In general, I have a restless child, here's the solution to the problem)))).

This is how we safely come to the end of the ball and in the last row the ball closes neatly. We had to close neatly too, but unknowingly we took 3 meters of each tape. And at this point, our entire tape ran out. But we had a beautiful thin velvet braid, with which we successfully decorated the ball and made a loop to hang on the tree. (All were also pinned to the ball with needles).

Further, our hands and imagination could no longer be stopped. We took smaller balls - 4 cm in diameter and narrow Christmas ribbons - 7 mm wide. We had 3 colors of them. And we decided to try to distribute the colors in different ways:

At first I thought that I would make these balls from a satin ribbon of the same color with a velvet ribbon of contrasting light, then I thought that I could take ribbons of the same color - but with different textures - satin and velvet, for example. But as a result, I liked using bright Christmas ribbons - it fits more with the style of my tree.

You can also attach triangles starting from both sides of the ball and going to the middle. And in the place where the joint will be, intercept with a ribbon.

Then we took a large ball and a narrow braid. This was an unfortunate option, since the width of the tape is not enough to cover all the boundaries of the triangles:

For ourselves, we drew conclusions:
1.A ball with a diameter of 8-10 cm - a tape with a width of 16-20 mm.
2. Balls with a diameter of 4-5 cm - ribbons 7-10 mm wide.
On a ball with a diameter of 8 cm - 6.5 meters of ribbons, on a ball of 4 cm - about 3 meters of ribbons.
Altlas-velvet combinations look beautiful on large balls, you can play with color by attaching triangles as you like. You can play with the texture. The main thing is that the ribbons are approximately the same width and this width corresponds to the diameter of the ball. Although .. which you will not come up with along the way)))

Today we decided to collect wide ribbons in shabby chic style, polka dots, in flowers, vintage Christmas ribbons, and make vintage balls. We will definitely share the result! And already when choosing ribbons, I got the idea that you can use lace (not expensive lace, but a ribbon - a la lace), you can ... Yes, you can do anything)))) hype!

It would seem that the New Year is still far away, and we have just begun to get used to the snow on the streets. But many parents are already worried about the holidays and about decorating the New Year's tree. The most beautiful, of course, will be hand-made toys. I looked for something interesting on the Internet and found such beauty - New Year's balls using the ARTISHOK technique. I just fell in love with these balls when I saw them on the tree. Making them is very simple, the main thing is to try, it is completely addictive.

This master class is for those who are not yet addicted to jewelry using the artichoke technique, and for whom, this technique will be something new, and for those who are looking for something ELSE to do with their children. Thanks for the master class

The peculiarity of the "artichoke" patchwork technique is the stripe in a certain sequence of the details of the product, cut from various materials. Most often, the elements are made in the form of squares from satin ribbons, brocade or cotton fabric, and then folded into triangles. Beads, sequins and lacing are used for decoration. Patchwork in this style is usually used to decorate unbreakable Christmas tree decorations.

In the technique, the "artichoke" looks very unusual and raises a lot of questions about the technology of its manufacture from inexperienced needlewomen and people not associated with sewing. In fact, even a beginner does not need special skills to create such a toy. The product can be sewn in half an hour using ordinary patchwork tools. It is enough to purchase or find colorful patches in the house and add a drop of imagination.

Artichoke balls: master class

Let's try to create a simple Christmas tree toy using a foam blank and three types of fabric.

For work we need:

  • shreds of three colors;
  • spherical foam blank with a diameter of 8 cm;
  • flat-headed studs;
  • centimeter;
  • small scissors;
  • glue stick;
  • ribbons for decoration;
  • lighter for singing ribbons;
  • washable marker.

At the first stage, it is necessary to mark the foam blank with a marker so that the shreds lie flat and do not warp. On the ball itself there will be a strip in the middle, it should be highlighted to make it easier to navigate. Then we find the poles, marking them with pins. This can be done by marking any place on the drawn line and then placing the stud on the opposite side: measure the circumference with a centimeter and divide the distance in half. You will need to draw a few more lines to divide the ball into 8 parts.

Preparing the fabric

We cut the material into square pieces ranging in size from 7 to 8 cm. The first layer will need 10 pieces, the second and third - 16. It is advisable to immediately fold the pieces of fabric in 4 times and iron them. Then the edges and the center will be clearly visible, and it will become easier to fold the blanks. Take the carnation and place it in the center of the patch on the front side. We take out one of the pins on the pole and attach the first shred there. Smooth it out and slightly stretch it so that the material "grabs" the workpiece, after which we fix the edges with pins, successively passing to opposite sides. The folds of the fabric should line up with the lines drawn with the marker. There is no need to be afraid that the markings will be noticeable after the end of the work - even if this happens, the marker can be easily dissolved by sprinkling with water.

Making cloves

We start forming shreds for our ball using the "artichoke" technique: take the fabric, unfold it and pierce it with a pin from the wrong side in the center. The cap should hold the material and the point should protrude outward. We remove the fastener on the workpiece and, folding the piece in half, place it near the center. Press, turn the upper edges to the middle, forming an even triangle, and fix. To keep it straight, we focus on the drawn lines. For symmetry, go to the opposite side and repeat all actions, forming a corner. We make two more cloves, filling in the remaining sides with them. Make sure that all lines match. Now you need to fix the ends of the triangles: we put the adjacent ones on top of each other and fix them with pins. Turn the ball over and attach the first layer on the other side.

Apply the second layer

At the next stage of creating a New Year's ball using the artichoke technique, take a different type of fabric and insert a new patch between the teeth of the first layer. We do this with a centimeter, having previously measured 1.5 cm from the center and marking the attachment points with pins. Make sure that the fold is a continuation of the line on the first layer. Next, we again fix the patch on the opposite side, repeating all the previous steps. The second layer will need 2 times more "teeth". Mark 1.5 cm on the remaining lines and pin the triangles.

Making the third layer

It remains to use the last type of fabric for our toy using the "artichoke" technique. We again retreat 1.5 cm from the bottom row of teeth. We repeat all actions in the same way as on the second layer. We attach the shreds on both sides of the foam blank. When all the triangles are collected, it remains to close the seam in the middle of the ball. To do this, you can use a fabric to match the last layer. We remove all protruding threads in advance. We cut out a strip about 27 cm long and 3.5 cm wide from the material.Turn the edges and fix them with a glue stick, wrapping the ball with a slight stretch, and then fix it with pins. You can decorate the product with bows made of ribbons and other elements, using them as fasteners. A stylish and effective Christmas ball using the artichoke technique is ready. Such a toy will never break and will decorate your home for many years to come.

How to make a ball out of fabric Photo

Earlier we already wrote about creating a similar one, but then a foam ball was used as the basis. Today we present to your attention an excellent master class on creating a completely textile ball with your own hands from scratch.

To create a fabric ball using the artichoke technique, you will need:

Base fabric;

Template paper + pencil;

Needle + thread, sewing machine;

Stuffing (synthetic winterizer / cotton wool).

To decorate a fabric ball:

There are two red squares on the lining, 8 beige squares measuring 5 * 5 cm, 16 squares of the same size, but of a different color (in this case with green stars), 16 squares of the third color.

Beads for decoration.

Artichoke fabric ball step by step:

1. Creation of a tissue ball - the basis.

Prepare a pattern out of paper (Figure 1). Transfer to the wrong side of the fabric (Figure 2). You will need to create 4 petals. Cut out, remember to leave a seam allowance (Figure 3). Sweep the petals together in pairs (Figure 4-5).

Sew on a typewriter on one side (Figure 6). As a result, you will get "pockets", as in Figure 7. Fold them together with the front side (Figure 8-9).

Sweep or pin off. Then we grind (Figure 10-11). Leave a hole on one edge of each petal through which the future ball will be turned inside out and stuffed (Figure 12-13).

Fill the ball with filler and then blind-stitch (Figure 14-15). As a result, you will get a ball, as in Fig.16.

2. Ball decoration:

Take all the squares for decoration (besides those for the lining), fold in half and iron (Figure 18).

Lining squares - place in the middle of the ball, and pin with pins so that they do not fidget (Figure 19).

Then take the ironed beige squares (rectangles) and fold them into triangles (Figure 20-21).

Place such a triangle in the middle of the future fabric ball, as shown in Figure 22 and pin it with pins.

Pin the 4th triangles and get a blank, as in Fig. 23. Start sewing the corners of the triangles. Sew the opposite corners of some triangles (Figure 24) and then others (Figure 25).

Sew on a beauty bead at the junction (Figure 26). Withdraw the needle under the triangles as shown in Figure 27. And carefully sew the triangles along the edge to the base of the ball (Figure 28).

As a result, you will get, as in Fig. 29. Proceed by analogy with the rectangles with asterisks. Fold them into triangles first, then place them on a ball and pin them. Arrange the triangles in the correct order (Figure 30-31). Sew in the same way as in the previous steps (Fig. 32-34).

Apply triangles of the third color (Figure 35-38).

As a result, you will get just such a half of the ball (Fig. 39), by analogy, make the second one.
