      Which roses are better to dry

      First of all, which you are going to dry, must grow in clean places, especially if it is possible that they will be eaten, or they will in one way or another come into contact with food, dishes, skin.

      Important! Only a freshly cut flower is suitable for drying. The more time passes after cutting, the more likely it is that the rose will not dry out, but wither.

      You need to cut them off in order to dry them in the morning, but not too early, so that the dew has already disappeared and the flower has time to dry. Excess moisture can provoke the process of decay and nullify all the work.

      Preference should be given to the buds that have not yet opened, since the blossoming flower will quickly crumble.

      After cutting, bring indoors immediately without leaving them in the sun. The proximity of a battery or other heating device will also not be beneficial, as the increased temperature accelerates the wilting.

      You don't already know how much time has passed since they were cut - it may well be quite a lot. Every hour of delay reduces the chances of a successful outcome.

      Did you know? The best roses in the world are planted by the French, they are sold by the Dutch, and oil is extracted from them.- Bulgarians.

      How to dry a whole rose

      Since there are several ways to dry, so that they retain their beauty and do not lose their color and shape, you should choose the appropriate one in advance and prepare everything you need.
      There are two main ways:

      • on air;
      • in sand.

      There is another way to dry a flower - between book pages, but it is not very suitable for a rose due to its structure. However, a small flower may well be preserved in this way.

      Those prepared using this technology are used in flower arrangements or simply as a bookmark.

      Outdoors

      For air drying, you should choose a room that meets the following parameters:

      • it should be dark, since those who dry in the light become brittle, deformed and crumble;
      • the space must be well ventilated;
      • the room must certainly be dry.

      The cut ones are sorted out, the stems are equal to the desired length. It is also advisable to rid them of the lower leaves, but it is not necessary to cut them off completely, depending on further use.
      A rope is tied to each stem and the flowers are hung upside down from them to a pre-stretched rope in the manner of a linen one.

      Instead of a rope, you can use ordinary clothespins, carefully attaching the flowers to the stretched rope, trying not to flatten or damage the attachment point.

      They must be suspended at some distance from each other so that the air can blow each one from all sides.

      Important! Do not dry roses collected in a bouquet: in the middle there will be a lack of air and excess moisture, which will lead to rotting flowers.

      This process is not fast, it will take about two weeks. If the petals have changed their color, you can give them the desired color - for example, using nail polish or spray paint. Glitter hairspray is often used.

      In the river sand

      Since roses can be somewhat deformed when dried in air, it is only necessary to change the conditions, in order for them to remain alive, it is worth trying to dry them in the sand.

      This method requires additional materials: you need a box or crate of the right size and enough sand. The preparation of flowers is carried out in the same way as described above.

      The sand should be thoroughly rinsed, dried and baked in the oven. This is necessary so that there are no microorganisms left in it that can harm the flower.

      After calcining, the sand is sieved through a sieve to remove coarse components that can crush or tear delicate petals.

      The container in which the rose will be dried must be of such a size that the flower will fit completely inside in an upright position, and so that there is a reserve for a layer of sand.

      The technology of drying a flower in the sand:

      1. Pour a little sand on the bottom of the box or box, about a 5 cm layer. Stick the rose into the poured sand in such a position in which it would be in a vase, and begin to cover it with sand.
      2. Sprinkle sand in small portions and carefully so that parts of the flower do not jam. In what position the petals will be fixed with sand, in this way they will dry out.
      3. Having completely covered with sand, the container is covered and left in a dry, dark room. He will have to stay there for about a month.
      4. When the due date has expired, the sand should be removed through the holes made in the bottom of the container. You cannot dig, starting from the upper layers - this is a sure way to destroy all works, harming the petals.
      5. To strengthen the dry flower, refresh its color and protect it from moisture, dried roses are treated with hairspray.

      If you dry a flower in compliance with the technology and process it with varnish, it will outwardly differ little from a living one.
